Sanyo M7880K, yes I did it again..

maxx134 - 2013-08-08 22:34

Here we go... Got carried away yet again..

maxx134 - 2013-08-08 22:37

this is an almost new unit!

LED on:

Dial

Tunning dial

controls

cassette area

tape counter

volume

unit was new without box when I attained it a year ago and is still mint and up for sale on ebay as well..

If I hold onto it any longer I may keep it lol.

8hrs painstaking operation with trial and error on LED placement to get just the right effect and glow..

maxx134 - 2013-08-08 22:39

This mod totally different than my first simple mod on an older box of same model,

as every area has its own dedicated lighting.

Super hard as there is virtually no space at all for conventional LED so I had to modify the LEDs itself.

up next for LED mod is a National rs-4360

hopefully tomorrow..

i love the model, but not sure about the leds man-id have done the dial light but would have probably stopped there, but, some effort has gone into doing this and you should feel rewarded for all the work you have put in,well done to that

Love this model, I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the LEDs either

nickfish - 2013-08-09 03:22

I have to agree with AO.

These machines are fine looking and while the LED's might be your thing, and I am sure it was a challenge to do it; I would not want to buy it and I am sure that most people that like these machines would not want this one either. It will definitely restrict it's appeal and will probably be worth a good deal less than if it were standard.

Just my opinion though; and it's obviously yours to do with as you wish. I can't help but feel a little sad that there is one less good one out there in original condition.

Sorry to spoil the party guys I love it, I think it looks really good great job Maxx134 well done

maxx134 - 2013-08-09 09:15

OMG no biggy all you have to do is disconnect a wire inside and back to normal it is..

Appreciate the "original view" though..

I will be more conservative with my next victim, the National rs-4360 ha

blutmadchen - 2013-08-09 11:36

I agree with Lav. I think the lights bring out a certain atmosphere in a dark room. I especially like how you lit up the tape counter! Way to go, Maxx I would definitely buy it if I didn't already splurge on the mx920k. My only question is this: Can the LEDS be turned off while the box is in use, or do they just stay on when powered up?

mitchelljames - 2013-08-09 11:59

I like it, and im sure if the LED's are switched off it looks totally stock.

northerner - 2013-08-09 12:25

Well I like a mint original box but I also like LEDs. I see no harm as long as its reversible or looks stock when the LEDs are off. I know how little space there is inside these Sanyo minis so some top work done there to fit it all in. If the CPL's work is anything to go by you'll have boosted its value massively

maxx134 - 2013-08-09 13:28

I am contemplating using the tiny switch for "beat" to control the LEDs for when you want it off..

maxx134 - 2013-08-09 16:22

ok to appease members and to put to use helpful ideas.

I took the LEDs off the power switch and used instead the beat button off to the side.

the good it that any surge is thus eliminated at start.

Another good is that you have a choice to turn light on or off..

The bad is that I had to hard wire the beat function so I set it at 1..

maxx134 - 2013-08-09 17:05

the LEDs are not blue..

They are actually cool frosty white but my stupid camera captures it incorrectly as blue..

Count me in with Lav's choice. You can of course not turn them on if you so choose but it does make it the choice for the patio on a dark summer night!

The lighted counter dial is the bomb!

Try playing with the colour balance in the settings.

maxx134 - 2013-08-09 20:46

Thanks guys.

I gotta say, I thought that small box would be an easy start to modding again,

but shit no that was a real almost unbelievable pain to do.

I am on my biggest oldest box now and it is a veritable oasis of room and potential..

Ofcourse I will be tastefull and professional with this one...

Just "testing the waters" and seeing what looks best..
