I bought a Sanyo 9935 brand spanking new back in '82. Lost it in the 90's.  Wanted another one so I acquired 2 of them over the past couple of years.  Used both of them to make a "like new" one.  Now took it one step further and added some LEDs.  2 green/blue on the stereo band plate and 2 color transitions on the lower grill.  I think it turned out pretty cool.  Took it to the pool last night and needless to say it turned into a pool party!!!ha

I robbed the LEDs from those cheap solar powered lawn lights.  Then I probed the circuit board for the circuit that powers on when the tape plays is actuated and when you flip the radio switch, so the LED’s have ON/OFF function that corresponds with the switching of the box. 

I stuck a 400 ohm resistor along the LED circuit to control the current flow to the LEDs.

Then hot glued the LEDs in place…pretty easy.
