brigadier.vytas - 2009-10-23 10:33

here's my mister Plastic Piece'o's*it - the shame of boombox industry, PHILIPS D 8434 (i bought it from taxi driver for pair of euros), before reconstruction:

after (if it sounds terrible, i thought, i can change its design):

my first mono- a soviet, latvian built Radiotehnika ML 6102:

i like it becouse it's interesting, all grey colored, mysterious, like some kind of special military suitcase looking thing with long and fat, almost 1m antenna! I've just repainted the grill, cleaned everything. Cassette and radio are broken, but it sounds great with iPod, it's most important for me.

viennasound - 2009-10-23 11:28

Great work at the PHILIPS Cool

And i love the russian boomboxes.
Must get one for the backseat of my LADA. Big Grin

saxonman - 2009-10-23 13:24

great machines there!!! lovely stuff

zx280 - 2009-10-23 16:29

Fabulous collection. Love the Russians.

brigadier.vytas - 2009-10-24 02:47

soviet doesn't mean russian. Radiotehnika was the name of audio equipment giant in Latvia-ex soviet republic.Even latvian language is from totaly different language group. Lithuanian (i am lithuanian) and latvian languages are from group called Baltic. Btw even Oreanda box is not russian, it's ukrainian. Thank U.

walkgirl - 2009-10-24 03:22

Smile

I like those Russian latvian boomboxes Big Grin Leaving

brigadier.vytas - 2009-10-28 07:28

:] thanks, Walkgirl

andyboombox - 2009-11-26 07:22

ive got the hitachi 8020 myself-except mines not got chromed speaker surrounds, and mines not green!but to say its a small one its got a fairly nice beat to it!i do have the 8290 to keep it company though!either way, nice boxes, brigadier!

brigadier.vytas - 2009-11-26 07:39

Thanks Andy. I've added some new small grills + rings, also some chrome on the surrounds and i've repainted that box (with grey spray i thinkBig Grin), that's why it is looking like that:]. And yeah, those small ones do sound pretty well and i would NOT say so about my 8190.That one looks gorgeous and its big enough, but the sound quality is just terrible mistake. Please post a pic of your Hitachi, Andy. Cheers!

btw, here's new "cyborg cow with 3 teeths" design of that same soviet Tom' box. I've posted that pic at the Tech Talk, but seems like, not so many people are comming there.

andyboombox - 2009-11-26 08:03

nice pic, brigadier, nice. ill post some pics soon, just waiting to get a digital camera!
andy

brigadier.vytas - 2009-11-27 02:12

some more pics of so far Tom's situation. Everything is not finished yet, for example i'm thinking about adding a belt for confortable carrying - that thing is very heavy indeed and this is without 6 D size batteries.

i know, those blue labels suck, but that was just another little experiment, i'll change them to something in the future.

baby.boomer - 2009-11-27 02:50

Great collection! Love how the boxes are displayed in in the club!

I'm a fellow Oreanda owner. (Probably not many in the USA.) I always thought it was from Russia. Thanks for telling us it was from Ukraine. Cool!

brigadier.vytas - 2009-11-27 04:19

Boomer, thank you. And Oreanda in US?..Well..congrats, what else can i say! Wink. My mate owns black one, it looks much better, i think, but our grey ones are great to!

kenpat - 2009-11-27 09:22

brigadier.vytas - 2009-12-07 03:41

my first mini- Sanyo M 7500LE, bought that little thing for about 35 euros 1 hour ago. I found it with couple of other items at local internet page, but later i found out, that the seller is my neighbourBig Grin. All works good, sound is ok for such size (only 33x13.5 cm) front ant top part of the body made from alluminium. There's "remote" plug, but that thing is unfortunately missing.

old.school.scott - 2009-12-07 21:56

Fresh!

Cheers OSS

andyboombox - 2009-12-08 01:43

lil.ange - 2009-12-10 18:27

andyboombox - 2010-01-13 05:03

nice cool little sanyo,brigadier!
i have 2 mini sanyos now, a m7750 and newly bought yesterday, an mw800 with the 2 speakers each side (one on top of another) in bright red.its rated at 25w but it doesnt sound like that much!mind you seen as though my ac power cord doesnt power it up, and im on cells instead,i assume i lose a few watts that way.
still a nice machine though.

brigadier.vytas - 2010-01-13 07:40

thank you, Andy! Please, post some pics, would be very intersting to see those beauties.
