Samsnites boxes part 1

samsnite - 2010-01-16 10:02

Hi yall! I'm a fairly fresh box collector, been doing this for about a year and a half now. I've always been interested in radios and music for that matter. I found this site recently and it changed my view of boxes forever... So here I am posting my whole collection. There is also junk in my collection, where I live boxes are quite rarely seen on fleamarkets and such... Starting with my smaller boxes, part one (five of ca. forty).

Unisef Z-300S, 5€ from fleamarket, quite nice, missing frequency indicator thingie.

TOWA, 5€ from fleamarket, nice solid build, made in Japan, missing radio/tape selector knob.

Silver Crest, bought new 39€? from Lidl, this is my current work-radio, modified with a wooden cage around it to take more beating, USB/SD, RDS radio, remote, nice sound. Only thing is it does'nt eat batteries... =(

Philips D8130, 5€, painted white, my previous work-radio

Philips D8184, found in garbage, five analog FM-presets, casing is broken at the back, works

I approve Smile the Uk version of this (D8132, includes Long Wave radio band) was my first ever stereo boomer, back in 1984.

I like the wooden case, looks like it came that way.

I like Towa, cassette door is excelent.

Thanks Teamstress, it was quite easy to build. The cage is not screwed or attached to the radio it is just squeezed between the plywood ends and the wood between them. Stained it ebenholz black colour.

Yes the Towa is nice, havent found any info of the brand. Maybe a A.K.A. brand?

Only Jens knows the answer.
I know only japanese musician called Towa Tei:]

I just noticed your 'Silver Crest' has a USB socket, does it play MP3's?
