Here's my latest find. The good news was it cost ten dollars at my local flea market and the tuner works well. The bad news is that the cassette is a tape eater so I will have to repair it. Anyone have a service manual? Anyone know this model?

These are gorgeous looking boxes, I missed one at the bootsale about 2 years ago, I saw some guy carrying it, he'd obviously bought it before I'd seen it. Are the woofers smaller than the grilles, like they are in the similar M4550/M9978?

Yeh. About half an inch smaller. Apparently these came in an all black version as well.

Hey zx, i have one of these too. Very nice and congrats on picking one up.
I havent seen a black one before but i have to agree it looks sweet, much nicer than the silver.
Perhaps a paint job would be the go ??
There is no print on the silver version to be lost if you painted around the speakers. The only print is on the panel underneath the twin VU's stating left and right but this could be left unpainted as it is an aluminium trim the same as the cassette door. That would make this slightly different than the original black version too.

No service manusl seems to be available-not even from a reliable supplier.
