Sanyo M7750K

mrp32dave - 2010-02-02 13:30

Here's my lastest box a Sanyo mini M7750K, I promised myself the next twin aerial mini I found whatever it was. It was described as suitable for a painter or builder I'd say had already been used as such, it was filthy and covered in white paint spots, these were very difficult to remove. On the plus side it is fully working as described, condition wise not so good has a lot of fine scratches especially on the metal trim, also the back and bottom half of the handle have yellowed badly. This model can't run directly from mains electricty and needs an adaptor someone decided to hardwire it by soldering wires directly to the battery terminals, don't know why it uses a standard size plug, this was the first thing I removed but they cut a notch in the battery cover so the wire could come out, at least the notch is neat, I use a Sony Discman 9v adaptor which is perfect for the job.
Anyway spent a whole day cleaning it, didn't turn out too badly never going to be really nice but looks ok.Here it is.

Some before and after shots.

Some more after cleaning shots

A lot of pictures to show it's good and bad points, so was it worth saving? I think so and it does sound very good for it's size, actually has some bass and could shame some bigger boxes.

ive got this model dave, and it looks and sounds brilliant.alas, mines not in as good nick as yours-paid 2 quid for mine from a car boot sale
andy
well worth saving mate-i run mine off 6 c cells as i cant find the right adapter-a pity some ******* did what they did to yours to get it working-brains of a fly.
still, youve rescued it now and thats all that matters.
where did you get it, and what have you given for it?
this model does sound pretty good though, bass and everything-im amazed with mine-ive got a later sanyo twin deck mini in red, and it doesnt sound anywhere near as good as this one!!!!!!!!

Very nice radio and beautifully cleaned up. Cool

themobcrew - 2010-02-03 19:46

may i ask, what did you use to wipe it all off?? rubbing alcohol??

brigadier.vytas - 2010-02-04 05:53

soap+water+ soft sponge, i think:]. Alcohol is exterminating writings/function names and paint.

Thanks for the comments, it did clean up nicer than I thought it would when I first saw it, looks quite nice now even with it's scratches.
I always use baby wipes to clean boxes then soft cloth or sponge and soapy water, plus cotton buds and small brushes to got into the akward bits.Anything other than baby wipes and soapy water you risk removing the writing and/or painted finish, and as Brigadier Vytas points out any sort of alcohol is a no no.
Andy I think the difference between the K and the LG is the line in and line out the K has RCA's for the in and out and a line in selector the LG's only have a 5 pin DIN and no line selector?
