Hi, I've taken some pictures of all the colours I have. Here they are displayed in my Panasonic RX-5500LE for your interest.

Which colours (in your honest opinions) look best?

Blue

Purple

Green

Red

Yellow

Black

All

A definite "no" to the yellow/gold, because gold only looks good with black boxes, not silver ones. I personally would go with the silver or black tape. Or maybe red, since it matches the LED lights.

My favorite though is white, it looks good with any kind of box:

BTW, the RX5500 is one of the best-quality boxes in the world, IMO.

I have to agree, it reeks of quality, and is of a very solid construction. I think it's a better quality box than the Sharp GF-777, cause the 777's brushed aluminium finish around the tuner is painted on. The Panasonic's is real aluminium. It's a heavy unit for it's size also. My only complaint about the box is it's very noticable lack of bass. It NEEDS a loudness switch, or better woofers... definately something.

BTW those white reels are nice, the lettering is good also. Though I do much prefer the shiny plain coloured ones TBH.

I don't think the bass is that bad at all. Granted, it doesn't have as much as an M70 or TPR950, but it's got more than a GF8989 or RX5150. I would say that it has as much bass as a 9191, but with a lot more precision and clarity.

Mine has nowhere near as much bass as a GF-8989.

Weird....I have an 8989 too, and unless you crank it it's a pretty weak box. I primarily listen at lower volumes.

can i just jump in on the 5500, i think it,s a real quality box with excellent clarity, but as mentioned deffo a bit bass shy. a classic looker though Nod Yes as for the tapes i think it depends which if any colours are on your box to match up Smile
