2 new ones: Sharp GF 800 and Sony FH7

mellymelsr - 2010-06-05 18:08

2 new heavy hitters that are a must to have if you have ever heard them. Both are in beautiful condition and 100% functioning. The Sharp has beautiful big-box sound with it's 10 band eq but the Sony is on another level. This little thing is a pure beast and heavy as hell. The sound is magnificent...hard firm bass and crystal clear highs that bring out every little nuance of your music. The FH series is in a class by itself.

Nice pieces you got there, mellymelsr. Pretty nice. The Sharp's got the convenience of two cassette decks (and unusual longwave tuning), but the Sony LOOKS like it's got commanding
size, commanding presence, handy digital tuning
('specially for shortwave Wink) and it looks like
it could play (and record) tapes pretty good (for an '80s or early-'90s portable Wink)...

...the Sony is a monster...big power and big sound...louder than an M90 with the sound to match...

With all those fancy topdog boomboxes, you must be in heaven, or at least floating on a cloud Melly. Your excitement is clearly showing and you sound like you are bursting at the seams. Good for you! It's great to see members jubilant about their collection.

Very nice boxes.

I'd like the Sharp 800 more if the speaker grilles were slightly see-thru like the Lasonic 935. But still, a great looking box.

And Dave's stack of Sony's is just Eek Big Grin

mellymelsr - 2010-06-06 14:50

...nice Sony stack Dave, and I love the 777's...the graet thing about this hobby is there are a lot of boxes to love...

davebush - 2010-06-06 15:13

true....there are a lot of boxes to love....in fact so many that my Mrs gets jealous......she tells me there is more than 2 people in our relationship.....about 52 by my calculation Big Grin

im.out.of.hear - 2010-06-06 15:17

i've had a couple of GF800s and FH7s over the years, they are built really well and sound really good, the last GF800 i had i gave to my mate for free because he had no decent stereo..it was mint with the manual..
yes the speakers have sponge stuff behind the grills, prob to make them look lke flat diaphram..

Oh and who thinks dave has got too many 777s and should share his wealth with us Big Grin

im.out.of.hear - 2010-06-06 16:07

hey dave,if i had them,i'de leave them on that window ledge, they look smart, looks like they belong there man..

i've decided to try and fix up my conion, then flogg it and try and get myself a GF999..

Nice set of 'boxes, davebush. 'Specially, of course, the Sharp GF-777zs'. Uh, is it naive to
ask if there's such a thing as a brand-new, unopened-packaging (i.e., "new old stock") '777z
somewhere in the world even though that yardstick model went out of production in 1982 or 1983?

Uh, another question, davebush: does that nicely
squared Sony FH-10W tune shortwave?

davebush - 2010-06-15 13:45

i dont think it does tune SW and as for is there new old stock of a 777....an educated guess would be yes but i think only in either china or japan where they were made
