Looks like a bloody sweet unit mate. Give us a run down of it when you get chance.

im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-29 17:05

Its not as clean as it looks doc, well its passable, but it certainly aint mint, under the cassette deck is bass, treble, tape speed/pitch control and mic level, the tape deck plays mint, rewind and fast forward could pull a jumbo jet its that strong..the back of the cabinet has yellowing, when i opened the packing, the ghetto was filthy,it took me hours to get it clean

peter.griffin - 2010-07-30 10:53

That's a great Sharp Ghetto! One of the "wanted" on my list. Are they charging you more for the "tariff"? I remember when I bough my GF777z from China(2006), the guy put 700 as value, so I had to pay taxes on the 700 valueFrown

lav.loo - 2010-07-30 10:59

first off stunning box, i would love a jap version of any of my boxes Nod Yes it does look mint even though you say it is not, i have one but mine has unoriginal woofers, kind of puts me off it a bit, anyway congrats G,MAN it looks a beauty.
secondly, nice one for not letting them t***s at customs rip you off Big Grin

im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-30 11:22

ahh yes, when i went to pick it up,i moaned at the officer that was dealing with it,i told him that i only paid £37 for the box, about £40 for fees for the middle man,and about £130 for shipping, now i'm getting stung another £42,he looked at the parcel and said that the percentage of tax on £37 should be less than £5,he said they've charged me almost £40 too much,i was going to just leave it until my bro gave me a grilling and said i would be crazy if i left it,soo i took his advice and give it a go,they can either say yes or no,they could either read my letter and look at the evidence or just chuck it in the trash without even opening it,worth a try though i suppose..

Lav,its good that your 9000 has got replacement speakers in it,the origonal sharp ones are Dump..they sound poo..

lav.loo - 2010-07-30 11:55

well fingers crossed they do sort you a refund out, £40 may not be a lot of cash to some people, but like i said before it,s about the principal of it, not just the cash.
ye i have heard the same thing a number of times about the 9000 replacements Nod Yes but i like things to be original, maybe im just too fussy but that,s just me, and to be honest the replacements don,t sound too good either, so id,e hate to of heard the originals if the replacements sound crap.
does the jap version have line in G,MAN or phono same as ours??

litfan - 2010-07-30 14:27

Ah, the good old 535. Big buggers these things.

im.out.of.hear - 2010-07-30 15:05

Ahh richard, did you have a 535 ? i think there abit nicer than the GF9000,they dont really sound any different..

hey lav, thats one of the good things by buying jap boxes mate,on our GF9000,they only have phono input for turntable,if you want to run things through it you have to use 5-din plug, where as on the jap boxes you get phono's for turntable and ipod ect...loads better, just like i have a Uk GF9500,that only has input for turntable, but i got one from driptip in usa, again, that one has inputs for ipod ect ..buying one from over seas is better..

litfan - 2010-07-30 15:29

Paul, me old. Yeah, i had a beauty. Changed all the belts on it everything. Don`t like saying it here, but, it alway`s sounded a bit trebley to me.

lav.loo - 2010-07-30 15:33

thought it might be the case Nod Yes i think nearly all the sharp models iv,e had don,t have line in, only phono, it does my head in a bit that even though i don,t really use it.
but if this outrageous digital radio goes through in a few years, i will rely on line in for cd,s mp3 e.t.c. can,t expect the tape mecs to run forever. and i do listen to a lot of radio, tameside radio on 103.6fm is great on a friday night all old skool 80,s stuff Nod Yes the line in was a bit of an issue with DRIPTIP when i traded him my panny 5500 for his blocky, the blocky had line in but the 5500 does,nt, i wander why it is that a lot of UK boxes have no line in Confused

reli - 2010-07-31 02:56

you can buy a phono-line in converter that allows you to use the phono jacks

bredgeo - 2010-08-04 10:36
