Sharp GF-9090 - In the wild!!!

mrp32dave - 2009-04-20 16:45

On Sunday mornings I always go to at least one car boot/flea market, Sunday just gone I had some things to do so only had time to do one and arrived much later than normal, it starts at 7am didn't get there until 10:45.I always walk down to the far end and work my way back, nothing interesting and only two rows of stalls left, then i saw it knew it was a GF but couldn't quite see which one, got to the stall and it was very nice GF-9090 had a label on it saying £12 no less, I quickly made an offer of £8 which the seller immediately accepted Smile.
Here it is:

Best thing about is everything works just needed a little bit of switch cleaner.
It is very dirty but should clean up nicely and only has afew minor marks.

Wow! I'd be pretty chuffed if I found one of those for that price, especially when you least expect it! Looks very nice in the pics.

billpc55 - 2009-04-20 23:14

thats the way to get them.
nothing sweeter than the ones you get for the price of a bad fast food meal and bus fare.

Looks like you won't have to put in too much work to clean it. Appears to be in great shape! I love the metal toggles and buttons I bet its as solid as a rock. Nice find. Smile
Peace,
Paul Z.

Thanks for all the comments it really was a nice find.On Monday evening I took it apart and gave it a really good clean inside and out, I thought the woofers were discoloured, but it was just dust they are still nice and white with the odd mark, so I'll leave them be.
Here's the pictures:

And the original mains lead which is always nice.

So I am very happy with all it needed was a bit of switch cleaner and a really good clean.

Nice box! I have one of those but it's not in quite as good condition as yours. Good sounding model.

matrixambience - 2009-05-02 08:39

The only Sharp radio I consider their best, is the 9090.

andyboombox - 2009-08-08 02:20

hello mate!
its great to find a bargain isnt it? Smilei bought a gf9090 yesterday, at a local charity shop for £7.50. like yours its all working, sounds great for a smaller box and like yours only has minor knocks and dings here and there. there is talk they did this box in 2 different colourways- mines in silver and black. whats yours?
