555 battleship!

lav.loo - 2010-11-10 08:55

my most recent find guys is the gf 555, great build quality, good loud sound, nice condition, but im a bit unsure of it's looks, it looks like it's gonna transform into something really badass Big Grin anyway here's a few pics below, these was taken with my new olympus cam but for some reason they look watery after resizing them Confused maybe i need to adjust cam settings, anyway take a peek Wink

fresh.produce - 2010-11-10 09:15

driptip - 2010-11-10 12:25

lav.loo - 2010-11-10 14:00

davebush - 2010-11-10 14:02

lav.loo - 2010-11-10 14:05

I Agree DAVE, loud as hell Nod Yes Wink

retro - 2010-11-10 16:19

how minty is it lav? any detail pics.

superduper - 2010-11-10 23:12

That's a beauty. I love those Sharp models. The best build quality I've seen in boomboxes. As for the camera -- they look good to me. In fact, they make that boombox look new.

lav.loo - 2010-11-11 01:53

thanks STORMIN NORMIN Big Grin and DT, i would give it 9.5 out of 10 for condition, iv'e uploaded a bigger close up pic for you below, please understand i use a dongle on my pc, so uploading is a real pain sometimes, anyway heres the pic, and i can guarantee you the box is excellent condition on sides and back, just too much trouble to upload all the big pics, the only marks it has are very superficial just a couple of very small ones on the top of the box, really not worth mentioning, and again i am sorry about pic qualityWink

bredgeo - 2010-11-11 10:04

Ah, old school stuff... Who does not have a simple GF 555 now-a-days???

Big Grin

Good bbox for sure Lav!!!!! That was my second Bbox in the days! I loved it (not as much as the 9191)... and do say, walk around more with that one than the 9191... Older (by one and a half year), thus more and better music!

Na, it WAS/IS a nice box for sure!!!!!!!

lav.loo - 2010-11-11 10:38

i defo love the 9191 more too, one of the nicest sharps ever, but the 555 is truly unique Big Grin

bredgeo - 2010-11-11 11:40

oh yes it is!

litfan - 2010-11-11 15:16

Sorry lav. This is one model i don`t like. I have had a few over the years. Never kept em long. Still remember seeing em for sale in curry`s, around 80/81. Very expensive. It`s odd though, i like the 666, but, have never managed to snag one.

brigadier.vytas - 2010-11-12 06:48

rumours say, it was first ever double. Is it true?

lav.loo - 2010-11-12 07:32

not sure BRIGADIER, it may well have been Wink

nevone - 2010-11-12 11:50

Have read those rumors too on pocketcalculator's site. I-m curious about the central part (the one with "double cassette" written on it). Does it covers something/come off?

docs - 2010-11-12 11:55

Yeh! there are a few controls under it, its a door that opens to the left.

hey Nevone, this is pocketcalculator site. that was the old name, about 7 years ago.

nevone - 2010-11-12 12:26

erm...sorry.

i was referring to this page: http://www.pocketcalculatorsho...boombox/golden5.html

driptip - 2010-11-12 12:29

yes that is part of the old site, many moons ago.

bredgeo - 2010-11-12 13:47

That little trap, back in the days, I made beleive to a few at diffrent times that it hid a small TV, and they thought it was until I opened it up laugh about (at the time you were getting quite a few Bboxes with TVs).

2steppa - 2010-11-13 04:58

Beautiful example, although I don't really connect with that kind of style box it looks great - I've yet to hear one though.

lav.loo - 2010-11-14 06:33

i think the sound may dissapoint a little 2STEPPA, bass shy is a word id'e use although it is very loud Wink

fuzzyduck - 2010-11-20 13:38

One of my favourite BBXs of all time and a gorgeous example there! Nod Yes Nod Yes Cool

reli - 2010-11-29 09:38

Looks heavy, how much does it weigh?

lav.loo - 2010-11-29 09:54

im not sure of the exact weight RELI, but ye it is very heavy, probably the best made box i have ever had, along with my old sk 909L Wink

pioneer - 2010-12-01 06:09

Hey LL im not much on the look's of that box but i agree it's made like a battle ship for real.
