@gary davis you got it mate.

isolator42 - 2010-11-18 10:00

Sorry docs, it's quieter than it has been in the past around here. Time was you'd have pages of comments within a day about a find like this.

That really looks like a cracking example. It it in as good condition as it looks in the pics?
Mine is much more careworn Smile

I'm guessing it was this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayI...geName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
If so, you got a right old bargain there & no mistake.

Look on the bright side: if s2g was really busy, that sale would've been chatted/argued about on here ad nauseum & the bidding would've probably gone nearer a grand.
This time, there wasn't a single post about it... Eek

docs - 2010-11-18 10:04

Hey iso, its not a problem at all. Thanks for the great comment.

Hey rbj, they are blue indeed albeit quite dark but like a blue outer circle with black inner.

Yeh having seen a total of 1 M90 in the UK since starting collecting 3 or 4 years back I am still in shock that I actually have one now. Looking at it, I don't have any emotional attachment since I would have never afforded one of these when they were out in the 80's.

Visually it is stunning, sound wise it has a depth to it, really nice clarity and the deck is just superb. When it is moving between play and rewind etc it makes that reliable clunking sound that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. The highs are super clear, and the bass is warm and surrounding.

The VU's are ULTRA responsive to the music and I found myself sitting there for 20 minutes watching them. The feel of it and weight balance is like all top quality boxes we have, it just oozes with smooth quality from the handle to the little green furr pads underneath for the feet.

To be honest it is still sinking in what I have. Some of it is the kudos that goes with such a wanted stereo, but in the main I love collecting stereos, its a passion, that reminds me of my breakdancing days, competitions, dance offs with crews and carrying lino around while a mate carried his Hitachi.

As a lad I never had the luxury of money so to get something like this now is truly an amazing feeling. Does the M90 stand head and shoulders above the rest of my collection ? Not really no, because to me they are all special.

isolator42 - 2010-11-20 06:49

aah, there it is - what we all wanted to hear.

That's what you get with an M90... the warm, fuzzy feeling that you've got yourself the very best Smile

docs - 2010-11-20 10:26

Thanks you guys.

toddsjob - 2010-11-20 11:01

Wow is that 90 in great shape.

eric - 2010-11-20 11:01

doc's that is a beautiful box. I always find it interesting to see where people keep their bass and treble controls and this is one box that you don't need to crank either one all the way over to get that sweet sound. Nod Yes

docs - 2010-11-20 11:55

Thanks guys. Yeh Eric, this is one that you can leave them set dead centre without issue. I think in the picture they are wherever I left them last but for no particular reason. Big Grin

reli - 2010-11-21 10:55

Nice box, congrats. Also, nice tape inside - The white Omega is the best-looking reel tape. Very strange however that the mono/stereo switch is shared with the meter switch. So if you want to make the meters show tuning strength, you have to make the sound go mono? That doesn't make sense.

docs - 2010-11-21 10:59

Thanks Reli. Yes true, what I do when tuning is flip that switch and get a strong signal then flip it back for FM stereo.

mrp32dave - 2010-11-21 11:13

DoCs, congrats on the M90 best one I've seen in years!!!

docs - 2010-11-21 11:16

Many thanks mrp32Dave.

ash25 - 2010-11-21 17:29

Hey Docs, that is definitely the nicest M90 I have ever seen. WOW. I dont know where or how you could find one nicer. Man you are very lucky. An early Christmas present for you and one that you wont get bored with and can enjoy for years to come.

The camera flash maybe at fault here because the top trim is super clean without scratches. Many thanks for the offer though.

weetabixears - 2011-01-11 12:29

docs that one hell of a boombox as im new to the scene but i know that they are grails and also that you got it here in england gives me hope that one day i might get one wave your a lucky geezer i remember watching that on the bay and telling my missus as the price went up but to you and all us other collectors we know its truely worth it well done on getting it i also write this with envy lol atb daz good one

docs - 2011-01-11 12:45

Thanks Daz, I really appreciate your comments.
This is one of those boxes that comes by rarely and luckily I was in a position at the time to get it. As a collector though I cherish all of the boxes I have equally, sure the m90 is special and a superb sounding stereo, but I really enjoy each of them the same way.

jimski - 2011-02-08 17:56

Wow thats nice

billy.the.binman - 2011-03-06 03:21

so how much did you score this little beauty for then?  looks deadly!

bods1 - 2011-03-08 15:58

Very nice, if only we could get all of them in this condition, shame it hasn't got the box too, that really would be the icing on the cake

Would still like to hear one of these, I love the big ones, most of mine are ones that sound nice and and high power
