RX 5250 AMAZING!

lav.loo - 2010-12-03 14:43

here's my new panasonic rx 5250 which i bought of epay for a decent price, i don't have paypal and i am not hooked up to epay so i asked member DOCS if he would get it for me as it had a bin price Big Grin
he agreed without hesitation to do me the favour,(what a guy) we struck a deal and DOCS is now the proud owner of my once minty gf9191, anyway guys this box rocks, it has lots of great features and the all cool ambience setting, i was very lucky as it arrived in a box with no covering, only cotton wool wtf amazingly there's not an ounce of damage wow i have give the box the once over, it's in excellent condition with just a few very superficial marks, it sounds awesome, goes very loud and the ambience setting is really a treat, easily as good as the spatial on my philips, anyway pics below, enjoy Wink

Nice boxes these. Much better than the 5150. MUCH better.

superduper - 2010-12-03 18:12

I agree. One of the best sounding boxes of it's size. The comparison to the 5150 is dead on, although I suspect that the sound difference is more attributable to a true tweeter on the 5250 vs. a fake piezo job that is on the 5150. In fact, I can't discern any sound difference with or without that tweeter. The only reason it's not more poular is likely due to it's rarity, and thus not well known.

matrixambience - 2010-12-04 05:34

Ah Yes! Typical Panasonic quality!!! I had one of these once, but sold it because I needed the money at the time. Congrats Lav!

lav.loo - 2010-12-04 06:44

cheers for all the nice comments guys Big Grin MATRIX i gather your a panny fan, the name AMBIENCE says so to me Nod Yes i can understand why after now hearing the ambience sound for the first time, wow it really is special Big Grin Wink

litfan - 2010-12-04 08:13

Mm. The panasonic ambience thing, doesn`t do anything for me. We have a panasonic telly, with the ambience feature. Rubbish.

matrixambience - 2010-12-04 16:49

Blah, blah, blah!!! Whatever Litty!!! I have to commend Panasonic for inventing such a feature in 1982....way before Dolby Surround. Yes, Ambience sounds kindy funky on certain recordings using the tape deck, but it kicks butt when used in conjunction with FM stereo radio! Nice full echo and boosts the listening area quite dramatically! IMHO.

matrixambience - 2010-12-04 16:54

....Dolby Surround not used on portable boomboxes, as far as I know. Actually, Dolby Surround was invented in 1965. Let me correct myself for the last statement.

reli - 2010-12-04 19:05

I'm not an engineer, but in my opinion Ambience is the same thing as a good "Wide" setting. And those have been around way before Panasonic started using the "Ambience" label.

Big Grin. I knew, i`d make make matrix chime up. On all my panasonic`s, the ambience stay`s off. What a waste of time.

andyboombox - 2012-08-24 02:21

hey si,we will see on the day about the panny mateeither way mate i dont blame you for loving it,i have a massive panasonic table top style music centre from the same period as your 5250 and its got dolby b and c,illuminated tuner, weighted tuning dial,2 rows of massive leds for level meters and its still on its original speakers!and its loud and bassy like a bat out of helljust how i like it!but something tells me i should have kept the 5250 i had,but it had one screw holding the thing together with all the other screw shafts broken and the screws missing, the tuner display was all collapsed and scratched to hell,it buzzed badly from the transformer and i never could quite get the deck right on it,so in the end it went to the tip sadly
