Elite 7070 & LLoyd PT-003 Added to my Collection!

jlf - 2008-05-25 20:53

I won this off of ebay last weekend, hasnt arrived yet, but here is a photo from the auction.

I checked the Database and its not listed!

I think it looks like it could be a rebranded model of some sort.

Anyone know for sure?

The auctions says it measures out at 24 x 17 x 7 (handle up).

Its supposed to be a loud one too, we'll see once it arrives!

I also won this LLoyd PT-003 last weekend off of ebay with a 'buy it now.'

I may have paid too much for it at $150 not including shipping, but Ive always wanted one, so thats what counts.

It reminds me of a Lasonic 931 in many ways, and Im sure its the exact same era. Due to the design and black case.

Probably wont sound that great? Hasnt arrived yet either.

I dont even know if these have line in?

Any members have one of these?

redbenjoe - 2008-05-25 21:03

jeff - i bet Jens has some AKAs for that elite -
i have a telefunken that looks very similar --buts its less than 24 wide --
looks cool -- nice going

Nice boxes, Congrats.

I really liked the Elite but the wire hanging out of the battery compartment made me nervous so I didn't bid. Let us know what that was all about when you get it, it may be nothing at all since the box seemed to work good. Smile

henrytai - 2008-05-26 12:15

the lloyd is one of my favourites

Thanks guys!

As for the line out of the back on the Elite... I think I may know what thats all about.

I worked my way through college at a warehouse. I had a BBX back then that I ran some wires to from the fork lift I operated all day long. As it was battery powered. I actually didnt wire it up myself, but a guy I worked with hooked up everyones radios they brought in for work.

It still worked with the original plug in, and when not on the fork lift, Id just tuck the external wires back into the battery compartment.

Anyway it free battery power!

The Elite is the same kind like my Stereo Sonic im modding at the moment.

They all have slight differences in the outlooks but are basically the same.

The rare boltbox is also an aka of this model..
Check out rambos collection to see the similarities.

great sounding box anyway.

Im only modding mine cause one speaker and tweeter blew up Frown

The other one is a nice one too Eek

Congrats and let us know once they arrived Big Grin

The Elite AKA version of that box is not in my database 2.0.I have the KTO and Le Baron bolt versions of this core box.It is one of my favorite series of blasters. The manufacturer of all these is Kasuga. It's one of the more cheaply constructed types of boomboxes with all plastic levers and controls.Even so,it's internals give it a good bit of weight. It's VERY LOUD!The highs are very bright and it has good bass if set to flat (or up to plus 2).I tend to like it more for guitar or rock over dance music. It's dedicated line-in is very nice and sensitive!Congrats!I'm jealous, actually Wink

Nice JLF. The Lloyds has always been a favorite of mine in the design dept. That elite is quite,,,, elite.

jlf - 2008-05-27 19:19

Thanks for all the great info guys!

Yeah... the Elite arrived today!!!

Mega fast shipping... I paid for standard slow boat, and I can only guess he paid for express! Unless the post office was working over time on the Holiday yesterday?!

It is LOUD!

I unplugged my beloved Prosonic PQR-9962 (Thanks RBJ!), and plugged the Elite right up to my line in off of my Gemini CD Turntable.

I adjusted everything, pushed play, and stood back... Dumbfounded!

They must have packed this thing with quality components, because for being slighty smaller than my Prosonic... it nearly matches it for sound output and quality!!!

This amazes me because for its size, the Prosonic is one of the best sounding BBX I have ever heard.

Im talking specifically about the 24 x 14 size boxes. So the Lasonic 931, etc fall into this catagory. Which everyone knows how those sound. Nice bass, little else....

jeff - forgive me if you have covered this already -- but if not --
can you post a pix of the gemini CD table --
dont know what it even is -- but it seems interesting --

jlf - 2008-05-28 16:21

Oh yeah! The money was well spent!

Here is a photo of my Gemini CD Turntable... Its a lot of fun to mess around with. I find that 'scratching' is a stress reliever! Smile

jlf - 2008-05-28 16:22

This set up belongs to another member here... Although I cant remember who at the moment!

Its a Technics... Quite a bit more expensive than my Gemini.
