A LOT of minis & other rare stuff

Wow.... Each day I think (and suspect) more people is decided to take off their old boxes from closets, basements, garajes and caves...

Watch what I found this week around my home, all units are really a bargain, and each one has an incredible history to tell me.

This ghetto PANASONIC RQ-432S is a fine jewel, because was a piece of the most famous ghettoblasters in mexico by the earlies 80's, My family, uncles, cousins, grandparents, has many of those. This unit still working in good and reliable condition, only a minor clean job is needed, and the volume potentiometer needs some clean too, sounds very very good and is a perfect radio to go to beachin'

Another mini radio, this is a REALISTIC 14-1012A in good condition also, no has AC buit in transformer, only powered by batteries and AC adaptor, the cassette deck needs new belt and my little son immediately falls in love with this unit, at this time he only lets me to take this couple of photos, because he wants to play all day with this little radio.

Now, take a look of this fantastic HITACHI TRK-8430H mini box, almost like a walkman with speakers, more little than the SANYO M-7650, and at this moment, the more little box in my collection. The unit is not all in good condition, needs the chrome trim in the cassette door, and in the cassette operation buttons, needs also a good clean job and a belt, and some tune-up for FM radio reception.

This is a lovable and in mint condition SANYO M-W15F in fantastic condition, white-pearl colour all working and very nice, I wish this unit be on my kitchen, sounds great and has a great radio reception.

This red mini SONY CFS-W50 is a good radio to go, the colour is not very attractive, but I love the white speakers. the B deck is dead, and needs also a minor clean job. sonds good to a box with this size.

Continuing with the SONY attack, check this SONY CFS-W301 compact design, nothing interesting about this unit, but sounds great and works better, some scratches in the aluminum face-trim but in good condition.

Here, this non-working SONY CFS-W350 ready for the surgery, nothing happens when the AC cord is plugged and turned on, I do not open yet to check this baby, but I think is no a major trouble.

Here, this fine SONY CFS-7000 full logic deck autoreverse mechanism, great design and great sound too, I love the speaker design and shape, the deck need a complete lubrication, the rew and Fwd functions not works. and the autoreverse action is very noisy.

And, what you think about this gorgeous SONY CFS-DW60 MEGA BASS in very mint condition, all working, fantastic and deep bass sound, has a mini woofer in the rear of the unit, graphic equalizer and autoreverse deck, is heavy, and have great design, this SONY becomes quickly to be one of my favorites, I decide to take it to my job site to enjoy it all day long!

Also I catch this great PANASONIC RX-C45 in good condition and with an awesome FM reception, the better tuner in a boombox. the unit only has a problem: The cassette door was glued! Yes... Some stupid put a little of cyanoacrylate glue (sometimes called Crazy Glue)in the cassette door. ...... the reason why ? I don't know. carefully I remove the glue with nail-paint remover (acetone) The cassette mechanism works well Confused

Another red one, this is a JVC RC-22J with a fun and brilliant red colour, average sound, non-working cassette mechanism, good radio reception, very lightweight, three band equalizer.

This TOSHIBA RT-8046 is great also to enjoy in a relax day, with digital tuner, it is very loud for its size, and have good radio reception. needs a belt and some clean.

Finally in this week's show, here is a great TOSH RT-SF75 in good condition, with good radio reception and only the A-deck working, the unit needs to be serviced soon, due to mechanical noises on the B-deck and jammed buttons, also has a hiss-noise in the left speaker the first minute the unit is working, at this time I don't know the reason, but I suspect a faulty connection on the potentiometers.

I hope you are enjoy this new units I catch this week, soon I have to put a Vintage-BoomBox store! (Nah...) Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

The logic controlled Toshiba mini is sweet. A hard find nowadays! You've got some good ones. The bulletproof one is the RX-C45, despite super glue. These had to have been one of Panasonics most durable boxes that they built. Had one in high school, have on now. Smile

Great catches... every single one!!

Two of my favorites are the Toshiba RT-SF75 and the Sony CFS-DW60. I have the Japanese versions of these (well, my Japan version of the Toshiba is close, but not exact) and I love 'em!

I like Japanese versions because the manufacturers often gave them wacky English names... probably to make them seem cool to the Japan domestic market.

For example, your Sony "Mega Bass" in Japan was a "DoDeCaHORN" (literally, "twelve speakers"... but I have yet to find all twelve!). On the lower left of the top control panel, the label that points to the 100Hz slider on the equalizer doesn't say "BASS BOOST," but "DODECA ZONE." Go figure!

And my sort-of mate to your RT-SF75, the RT-SW 9 (has an equalizer, extra Japanese TV band, and a few different-shaped buttons, but basically the same layout and controls as yours) is named "Sugar." Yeah, it's a sweet box, but I wonder if that's what Toshiba had in mind!

Hope I didn't hijack your thread too much! You've got a great collection, and it's fun for me to compare!

Hey, always is good to see many versions of a Boombox, the variety on the models is something interesting, i.e. I never seen before that DoDeCaHORN from SONY and it's fantastic! Anyway, I'm sure and believe is more than two version of this box, who knows? may be exist a white version of this baby....

Thanks for the photos, very valuable for me, increasing my knowledge ! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

It's very nice to see a fine collection of minis! So many here are only interested in bigger boxes. There was a time when these smaller boomers were quite loud and good sounding. My G.E. 5219 mono looks very similar to your Realistic 1012 and is a very nice box.Like yourself,I also have a Sony w301 and a w350.On the w301,it's possible to use the mic. input as a line-in.This works quite well though the output is in mono. The smaller 301 feels higher quality (there's some metal pieces on it) and sounds better to my ears than the larger w350.Unfortunately,the 3-piece w350 isn't very loud and has a cheaper all plastic look and feel to it.

Also like yourself I have a Tosh sf75.It is very loud for it's size. There is a line-in and the unit has incredible sound quality. It even has a bit of bass for its size!Though it looks like murder to get into,I would love to see if the areas around the speakers are sealed.Congrats to you Smile .What a wonderful mini it is!

Personally I think your Sanyo mw15 and JVC rc22 are really nice looking units I would like to find. Thanks for posting about minis.I really like them also!

Very nice!

That Sony 7000 is so 'Blade Runner' in its modernist design. I love it!

Nice BomBeat too!
