Great JVC RC-880

tranxmetal - 2008-05-03 14:33

Wow!!!! This week I am very very happy backing to my home and receiving good news about BBx's on sale. A messaje in my voice mailbox from Mr. Gutierrez about an old and big BBx resulting in the purchase of this magnific RC-880. Thanks Mr. Gutierrez for the deal!

The unit cosmetically needs some restoration, but all is complete, a deep cleaning is needed also. The cassette deck is not working, some mechanical noises cames from the deck when attemps to operate, good work for this weekend...

The radio works very well, and the sound is good but needs some more bass for its size.

Sorry for the quality of the pics, but was taken with my Nokia phone, my camera is missing by now... Big Grin

Some one have good tips to improve the sound on this lovable unit? Thanks !

I know, it doesn't take a genious to work out that's had some heavy use over the years. Does it have proper line in/out? I love the design. I wish you could ship the box to me right now!

I know that in the States' sombody's always talking about illegal border crossings. So I will return the favor and sneak into Mexico for some of these great boxes! Big Grin And those are great pics for a camera phone! Nice catch Tranxmetal! Nod Yes

Oh yeah... May be I'm sitting in a gold mine of BBx's... You have to visit Mexico in some vacation travel, may be you can take it some "illegal" BoomBoxes to Sweet home Alabama,
Where the skies are so blue.

Saludos.

Hola. bienvenido y gracias por tu comentario. No he recibido e-mail tuyo, pero contactame y checa tu PM! Esta JVC de verdad puede ser tuya si es que significa algo muy importante para ti. yo se como se siente eso. una grabadora como esta que te acompaño en esos años es como un amigo que muchas veces no sabes donde quedo o por que lo olvidaste.

(By respect to the others, I still writting in english, please write me and for the price don't worry, I do not have any intention to abuse from any BoomBox lover...)

tranxmetal - 2008-05-17 17:39

Sorry BREDGEO but is no date of manufacture label in the unit, the serial number is 3941804 if someone can decode it...

Okay... Damn! I was curious on what year they had put that AUTO-reverse in it Frown

I know that the year can be told/read with/by the serial No. but I do not know how to read them...... Frown Frown

Inside the front or rear panel there
are three circles showing Year and Month
and Day and there is a Arrow in each
circle pointing to the exact date of
manufacture.

Sometimes it is easy to see those circles
and other times they only show up after some
fun disassembly.
