Hi people !

I've bougth a National Panasonic RX5055F.
Looks like the 5050, but I don't know if it's the same.

Mine has four band equ, a led meter, soft touch deck, no tape selector, ambience/stereo/mono selector, Tape/radio/linein selector, volume and balance control. Is a two way speaker system. It has line in/out, built mic butnot mic mixing. Turner is four band with fine tuning.Of course needs some service (deck is nearly dead, but working)

I wanted to know some technical info, and the differences betwen the RX-5050 anf RX-5055F.
I'm a little worried about the quality ...
Sound is quite clear and loud, but shy bass.
It remembers me the 838.
The Box looks cheaper compared with other Panasonics I have at the same level (for example the RX5200).
For example, the RX5200, is heavier, and sound is quite strong, good bass, but distorts a little. The 5055 don't kicks as the 5200 for me, hovewer it's clear.

I know some members have and like the 5050, but I'm not enough happy with my 5055. Could be some thecnical issue ?. Additionally, if I move the first eq. band (125) the sonund doesn't change enough, look like a pointless band. It was expected to rise the bass, but it does only a little (the slider works fine for me)

Perhaps Jens knows the release date, for me is after 82, because it's uses the same mecha of the RXC45 (81), and built quality has been lowered compared with other Pana boxes at the same level built in early 80's

External inputs for CD/MP3 -
I have found the RCA line-ins to have very good sensitivity. It's easy to use as there is a dedicated "Line-In" setting on the box.
The mic inputs had even better (excellent) sensitivity. To use this without a tape installed requires defeating the record senser trigger in the top of the tape well.Just press it while engaging the "record" key.Make sure the "Selector" toggle is set to "Tape" and you will get very loud sound.
