oldskool69 - 2008-03-05 22:27

Well guys the last few months have been hectic with taking on our niece and her baby but somehow, someone, somewhere, upstairs? Wink, saw fit to reward me! And I say thank you!!! See the five new below...(Note: I'm getting in deeper as I now have a mini and a one piece! Laugh Out Loud)

GE 3-5285-A from the thrift store. $2.75 (Got it half off!!!) Has bass/treble controls, speaker connections via RCA plugs, remote and mic inputs. A nice loaded mini! Everything works! Just need to clean it up.

JVC RC-M60 from another thrift store. Yeah the deck doesn't work but who's complaining for $5.00! Needs cleaning but everything else works! A project box.

Panasonic RX-C60 from eBay. A good cheap buy. Needs work but glad I got it as these don't seem to be everywhere.

JVC PC-55 got on a side deal cheap. Had to whiten up the cones and that's it. Works like a dream. This one replaced the one I traded to hifitom for the one after this.

Telefunken HiFi Studio 1M I traded my first PC-55 to hifitom for. Needs a lot of work after a rough ride from Germany. Unintended project box. Still glad I got it though.

Sansui CP-7 from eBay. Finally got half of the pair. Chasing them since I was fifteen. See the review in the Chat section of the site. Works great and strong as a linbacker. Hands down the best looking of the bunch. Now for the black one...

I had to move my boomers downstairs. We are reconfiguring our house so I am in my temporary spot and even then I'll have to move again. But for now this what they all look like together.

I appreciate that but I don't hold a "candle" (The box or wax! Laugh Out Loud) to most of the guys on this site. I will say this, I don't want the most. I just collect what really catches my eye. I don't have to have every box on the planet to be happy. To me that makes my collection feel more special. Plus I listen to them all in rotation quite often. Big Grin What I am proud of though is that my white speakers are whiter than anyone elses including teeth! Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

Let me just qualify what I meant. Wink
The best one I've seen but that doesn't mean I've seen everybodies collection, in fact I'm sure I haven't.

You have some awesome boxes, some of the best 3 piece boxes ever made. Nod Yes

Great collection OldSkool!! And your lucky to have such a big basement to put them all inSmile Question, I have Sanyo C-9, and it has 0 bass, I mean no thump at all, is it the same with C-8 you have?

No it's a C9. (Sanyo didn't have a C8 to my knowledge.) I replaced the flimsy paper woofers with polypropylene 6" cones. Here is how she looks now and the woofers that came out. I still need to replace the tweeters. I also added push/pull clips out the rear of the cabinets for wiring, damping material inside and a bass reflex tube. I actaully tried different lengths to get the effect I wanted.

You can see the woofer suraface was much smaller than the opening by the marks in the seal. (Sitting against the grill.) The old woofers were thin and flimsy but now she punches really well. Thanks for the comments!Big Grin

Thank you for the kind words. The big silver bruiser that can beat up just about anyone is the mighty National/Panasonic (mine is the National version) RX-C100. This beast will slay pretty much anything out there and fight to a draw with the rest for loudness and bass. There are some that may be more clear or ergonomically freindly, but if you want to pound someone into submission you won't go wrong with this one. Big Grin Bythe way those big white fists (cones) are 6.5"!

ned.209 - 2008-03-07 12:42

Hey os any chance of a close up of the rxc100 with the unit turned on, that would be bad ass.

I actually had them all looped at one time when the group was smaller. If I get some time (and enough cables) I'll do it again and post a video. It was pretty wicked the last time! I used the RX-DT680 as the lead off with the CD output since FM reception would get interference with all that juice running around the units.Big Grin

beatbox - 2008-03-08 11:07

Excellent!

And I agree with you about the Sansui, it's sweet as sugar on a toasted marshmallow floating in a pool of chocolate thats just dripped over into a bucket of honey.

Great great great!

redbenjoe - 2008-03-08 15:25
