I'm starting to get luckier..

old.school.scott - 2009-04-23 16:47

First, here's something I didn't get even though it's interesting. this weird canteen-like radio.

So last night my friend was marveling at my latest Goodwill find and he said he was looking for a radio too, I told him, thinking that I was about through collecting because I'm never really going to find a grail at a Baltimore thrift store, that I would give the next one I find to him...but then today I found this..

billpc55 - 2009-04-23 16:58

never say never man.
thats a very nice little panasonic you have there. it looks extremely cool.

old.school.scott - 2009-04-23 17:00

The Panasonic F35!!!
This mini grail has a switch that is from mono to stereo to ambience. which sounds like some crazy surround sound. It sounds excellent.

billpc55 - 2009-04-23 17:17

alot of the older panasonics have the ambience feature. its kind of the same idea as the biophonic on a jvc or wide on some other boomboxes.
it sounds pretty good .
nice boombox you got there man. you did well.

old.school.scott - 2009-04-23 17:30

thanx...and you know, grail being in the eye of the beholder and all.

billpc55 - 2009-04-23 18:00

dude thats a pretty rare box. i will bet if you threw it up on ebay it would go for more than you might think.
but keep it man. i mean its too cool to give up.

fatdog - 2009-04-23 18:53

Man, that Panasonic is sweet! And I absolutely love the hidden controls. Very nice box! Cool

zx280 - 2009-04-23 19:01

VERY interested in the RF-822 radio. Any more information? I would buy this.

masterblaster84 - 2009-04-23 19:38

Very cool buddy, nothing cooler than finding these in the wild on the cheap. That panasonic is pretty cool and unique to boot. Nod Yes

viennasound - 2009-04-23 21:06

I like both PANASONICs!
Outdoor radios are very nice.
The big one is also a pretty machine! Nod Yes

old.school.scott - 2009-04-23 21:37

Alright alright, I'll go back and get the other one tomorrow...{ I knew I shouldn't have left it.}

I Agree Some strange non-boombox radios are interesting and collectible!
I also got this Pana last flea.

Yup,I hope it is still there. It is a hard lesson learned. I've found out that if you find something cool, pick it up if you have the money. Even if you don't want it, somebody here or on ebay will probably want it. It will save you hassles later. Wink Nod Yes

THAT CANTEEN RADIO LOOKS LIKE IT'S FROM THE MILITARY!

'NUFF SAID

old.school.scott - 2009-05-29 14:41

Yup. what other kind of radio would claim to withstand a five foot drop onto water?
Sounds pretty Panasonic good too!

bendycat - 2009-05-29 16:33

love the look of the speaker set up on that box - a very nice find Nod Yes

transwave5000 - 2009-05-30 01:10

It's a rather heavy unit.
More like a boat anchor box.

I know where one is.
I should go pick it up.

I'm marveling, too! I love this box... design, sound, lights, controls under a flap... everything!!

You're very lucky to have found one at a thrift store. (All I ever find at thrift stores are cheesy GPX portable CD players!) These units are pretty rare, and usually go for decent money on eBay.

Thought you might like to see my red (Japan domestic version with TV audio) and black (world version with LW band) beauties.

(Transwave, if you've found a silver one, and don't want to buy it for yourself, please pick it up and PM me. I'd love to complete my set!)
