Goodwill Came Through For Me Too!!

ghettoboom777 - 2008-08-27 16:32

Hi everybody-I just went to the local Goodwill today and found some things!
I got a GE cassette boombox-single speaker With a 6" speaker.
It works-needs antennae though.
I got this 3.49!
I also got a Aiwa surround sound loudspeaker-really nice one for 1.99!!
This speaker is great,it has a cord for the surround speaker and for the 6 way speakers.
Good for external boombox or single speaker extension.
I am going back for a JVC boombox with c.d. and cassette and it takes batteries.-looks good-19.99!
I'm liking the Goodwill,I gave them my name and # for non-working boomboxes.
I think I may have something here-fun!
The GE cleaned up great,I'm going to take it apart to clean-up the cassette really good, the rewind & ff are slow otherwise it's all good.
It really cleaned up good with the infamous goo-gone and simple green.2 of my favorite cleaners.
Thanks for the advice guys!
have a great week-Ghettoboom777. Smile Nod Yes

Congrats on the finds! Hopefully, you'll contine with that. My Goodwill got a new manager recently. The thing with the electronics now is, if it isn't 100% operational, it gets chucked. Eek So, if they ever get in a JVC M90 and the cassette doesn't work - it's trashed. Mad I stopped by the other night and there were maybe 2 items in the electronics section.

Hi Fatdog-Thanks for your reply,I live in Tn. also.
The JVC is pretty big, hopefully it will be there tomorrow.
It has a digital display and detachable speakers.
Of course I'll test it before I buy it.
I'm just aching to see something rare come in there.
I may be calling everyday!! Laugh Out Loud
Have a super week-Ghettoboom777. Smile

ghettoboom777-Great to hear your having some success.I have found some nice old school boxes at Goodwill but it has taken a lot of tenacity and daily trips.I can't count the number of times I've come up empty handed.Though I have actually gotten quite a few, there have been many '90s black CD box types I have passed on as most of them are not that loud or desirable. If I had bought every '90s 3 piece CD box based on the fact they are just good deals I would not be able to move in my own house!Since those boxes really don't generate a whole lot of interest on Ebay (and I'm not in NEED of a boombox),I just leave most of these for people who are genuinely in need.Generally speaking a box has to be either a classic era boomer,a very high end newer type,or unusual for some reason for me to purchase it.Having RCA inputs for my MP3s weighs heavily in my decision making.

I must admit to being very excited about whatever I might find.Even if I don't buy,I enjoy testing them out and studying their features.Usually I will take pictures also.I'd like to know the model # on that G.E. in particular.Pictures of it would be really interesting to me as I'm a G.E. fan.

Hi Jovie-I kind of agree with you,it was my first time buying a radio there and I think I will be more picky.
Your also right-I may not have room for so many boxes. Confused
The G.E. was kind of cool and the speaker was a must have-it's a nice one.
I went back & the JVC wasn't there so I went to a couple of garage sales.
I got a Magnavox boombox for 2.00 and it works!
I also went to another garage sale today and I got about 9 cassette tapes that are brand new-some are Sony Metals that are unopened-2.00 again!.
Very cool-I like finding very good quality tapes like this and they're brand new!
Even some TDK's and a box that they came in.

I'm looking now for more classics and rarities in boomboxes.
Thanks for all of your replies-Ghettoboom777. Smile
