A few more recent ones i have added

aza - 2009-04-11 02:22

One thing i really enjoy is seeing the pictures members submit here, you never know who has what and it is exciting to see what is out there in members collections.
So it is only fair i offer the same !

Got this one recently and was surprised and happy to see that it not only had the manual and original purchase reciept with it but also the original sales brochure !

Now one of my favorite models are the National/Panasonic RX mini's and i have wanted one of these for ages. I was lucky enough to pick this one up recently.

The RX-C52 is beautiful and everything i had hoped it would be. I'd have ten of them if i could find them ! But....
before i even got a chance to really appreciate finally getting one i 'happened accross one' i like even more !!
I never even knew it existed, if i did i would have been chasing one from the start.
Any takers on what it is ???

Cripes! More amazing boxed radios, you're a maestro of collecting AZA!

I love my little RX-C52, she's a quailty item for sure, great to see you found one in such rockin condition.

Hmm, as to my guess I'll assume it's a high end brand that didn't make many portables...but with your length and bredth of knowledge I'm stumped as to what it could be. But I'm certainly looking forward to hearing what it is!

Rock On.

As to the other one, well i should explain myself a little better !
It is also an RX mini.

AMAZING AZA!!Cool

not only nice boxes - in superb condition too . getting a box manual packaging etc. too makes it even more special!!

A question - could you please/possibily make a scan of the Sharp-brochure where the 3 girls hold that 6060? Would make a great desktop-image Smile

I think billpc55 mentioned in a post once that 80's graphic design is/will always be the best. I totally agree.

Im personally not set up for scanning anything but leave it with me Kid and i will get it done.

redbenjoe - 2009-04-11 05:03

NICE ones , AZA-

my guess for your other rx-mini = C50

johnnygto - 2009-04-11 05:23

AZA, looks like you have some really nice ones there!

Its amazing when you can luck out and get all the documentation that goes along with them. Its like a time capsule.

Nice finds once again.

The C50 is another great example of how cool the RX mini's are, but not the one RBJ Wink

monolithic - 2009-04-11 09:19

The National is dope! Cool

redbenjoe - 2009-04-11 19:53

AZA --can one member guess twice ?? Big Grin

RC-C20

jlf - 2009-04-11 20:01

That 6060, you dont show the actual box, I was wondering, did it have a black tag attached to the handle talking about its features?

I came across one years ago I sold to Jared that had one on it. I think it was for the cassette music search system or something?

I love seeing original boxes and literature! So cool! Nod Yes

Before collecting boomboxes i used to collect component stereos but you run out of room much quicker doing that !
I still have a few but dont go looking for them so much anymore, spend my time searching for boomboxes instead.
Recently reading the audio section in the classifieds i noticed an 80's Pioneer home unit advertised for 50 bucks. I new the speakers alone where worth more than this ! I tried desperately to ignore the add, i just didnt know where i would put it.
A few weeks went by and it was still being advertised ?? Well i rang and yes it was still there so i went and had a look. Absolutely awesome unit and all for a lousy fifty !
Anyway while i was there i got talking, as you do, and i explained to her that my real focus for collecting was boomboxes.
She said 'oh i have a black radio in the cupboard if your interested'. Well im always interested but the mention of a small black radio usually ends in being a mid 90's peice of plastic rubbish so i didnt get too excited.
When she brought it out she said she had bought it new herself and then hardly ever used it and it had just been packed away for as long as she could remember. I love these people that do that ! Big Grin

An RX-C53

with Spectrum Analyzer. Love it !

Easily my new favorite !!

redbenjoe - 2009-04-11 20:33

there are soooooooooo many great finds reported here --and this is like all them !!

'how does it sound'
?????????

redbenjoe - 2009-04-11 20:42

AZA -- do you have a C50 or C20 to compare it with ?

jlf - 2009-04-11 20:45

The C50 i know i have, the C20 i will have to check.
Quick comparison with the C52.
I feel the 52 is a loud little box, it really yells out when pushed. Where as the 53 seems to have a smoother sound but still very loud.
Perhaps the smoother sound comes from my own settings on the graphic eq on the 53 ??
Also the 52, although slightly smaller of the 2, is heavier. Probably the extra weight of the feather touch control system ?, feels like it has batteries in it when you pick it up.

Both are FANTASTIC Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2009-04-11 21:07

ok thanks -
i usually think of the C50 as the 'sound king' of all the world of minis --
so if/when you have time-

the c50//53 would be an interesting comparo.

jameswp67 - 2009-04-12 05:18

Aza, great units, congrats! I would love a copy/scan of the RX-c52 manual, I love that radio and I love to get manuals when I can. I will happily pay you to have it scanned professionally, or just photocopied instead,

devoltoni - 2009-04-12 16:18

Eek
Congrats AZA on your pick up.
That c52 and c53 is look fantastic and like a new.

old.school.scott - 2009-04-13 18:42

I love that story. and nice find too.
What's the matter with me? I can read cool stories about finding boomboxes accompanied by pictures all day long.

OSS

redbenjoe - 2009-04-13 21:51

OSS - me too

all the many posts about ebay victories are not so worthwhile --
anybody can overpay and win Frown Big Grin

but these 'in the wild' reports are always the results of terrific luck and special efforts --

they are all so exciting --
no such thing as too many of those great posts !!

billpc55 - 2009-04-13 21:52

those nice rx boxes are ones i seem to come across in shape that is just too far gone for me to pick up.
i know they are good beacause when i do come across them they are almost always well worn.
they are really nice.
