a PHILIPS day

viennasound - 2009-01-01 06:37

Last time at flea i found 2 nice PHILIPS boxes i want to show now.
You know, i´m a Spatial Stereo fan! Big Grin
This box i´ve seen a week before - and leaved it.
But a week later it must come with me.... Wink

I hate the little thermical damage over the left speaker. I think a candle or so must have stand too close. From inside it´s impossible...

I think i will cover it with a little sticker. Roll Eyes

In the garden

At the railroad service

Second one was a wooden applicated old mono.
But i´ve never seen such old box in this perfect condition: Razz

No scratch around. Everything very clean.
Left side the volume (+off) and tone knob:

Right side the tuning and finetuning knob.
And look at the XXL antenna

It will become new belts next time

trackside

Storage for cable and batteries

come together

under the christmas tree

Finally the labels
MONO:

STEREO:

I love both!
The Stereo for its perfect sound. Unbelieveable for this quiet compact box
The Mono for the perfect like new condition.
Smile

Philips is phantastic! When I first learned about eBay, I went on a Philips buying spree. Loved their stuff and snapped up anything I could find: radios, tape recorders, shavers, can openers, store displays, banners... even an old flash camera.

At the time, the Philips name was rare in the U.S. (most of their stuff was branded Magnavox or Norelco), and I wanted to be the first person in my neighborhood to own a houseful of Philips branded electronics. I succeeded.

Today, the Philips name is everywhere, and I've moved on to finding other brands that are rare in the States.

P.S. Love the Gremlin in your avatar! The first car I ever bought was a '71 yellow one. (My second car was a '76 red one.)

The D8414 is great , i hope to catch one someday 2 Nod Yes.

viennasound - 2009-01-01 10:20

@bb: Yes, Philips had a lot of great stuff in the 70s-90s! The SpatialStereos are great.
About the AMC: The Gremlin was a famous strange looking car. A friend of me restore one this time. With V8 engine! Razz
My great love is this AMC Eagle:

@Börny: Maybe i can help you! With a other box. Wink
It was a 3 Philips day.
The guy only sold the whole stuff of 4 boxes.
A old scrappy NORDMENDE was included, i will part it out. It´s dead.
And this one, we talked about such type:

Function not tested this time , because i won´t behold it.

Let me know if interested. If not, i will part it out for my 170. Some parts are fitting.

I think it´s such box we talked about, at the flea thread,or? Looks like it´s the same type?

I love the fact that you find so much nice stuff at the flea market. Super cool! Big Grin

borny - 2009-01-01 10:59

Thx for thinking about it Cool.

viennasound - 2009-01-01 11:06

No problem!
You can think about it till next week , before parting out.
If you want it (free), let me know! Wink

The NORDMENDE is also avaiable for free.
Same like that:

Or if anybody needs parts... Roll Eyes

The mono philips and the Nordmende looks like vintage grundigs ... in plastic with wooden finish.

Thats nuts!

You like the AMC cars, and I love the Euro 'hot hatch' GTI type of cars that we cant get here in the U.S.!

I'll bet there is one of those AMC's in every junk yard in America with good parts on them, just waiting to be used in a full restoration!

Very cool! I always wanted to make a MONSTER TRUCK out of one with 4x4 and a big lift kit! Laugh Out Loud

viennasound - 2009-01-02 11:46

@JLF: In Vienna exists a "Monster-Eagle".
I´ve seen it last year.
Dope! Big Grin

In my best time i owned about 6 (!) Eagles.
Most got for cheap or free.
Now its "only" 4.

My favourite, the "Custom":

Its the basis version with hand gearshift

The white limited was my daily driver.
Will be sold next time.
Hope i find a enthusiast

From the "wrecks" exists 2, the other parted out and scrapped:

Most died with horrible rust.

I will only behold the silver one and one wreck. The others will be sold. Problem ist, this cars nearly nothing worth.... Frown

After owning two Gremlins, I made my 3RD MISTAKE by buying an '81 Eagle Kammback.

From the brochure...

This Eagle (basically a 4-wheel-drive Gremlin aka Spirit) was worth next-to-nothing a year after I bought it. So, I traded it in '82 for a Ford Fiesta.

Here is a great history of the AMC Eagle.

viennasound - 2009-01-03 00:10

I´d like to have a sedan.
But in austria 95% were sold as wagon.
I only know 1 sedan and 2 kammbacks in our country.
The beautiest was the "sundancer" cabrio, never sold here.

A few pacers also survived in town.
2 with the big block.

The best site for AMC-fans here!

These are so rad!

We had a freakish, once in a life time blizzard here the past two weeks. It actually put Christmas on hold for a few days, as the Police asked people to stay in their homes and off the roads!

I dont own a 4x4, and non of my cars are very high off of the ground. Ive been thinking of trying to find a family friendly 4x4. We have plenty of SUV's, but I dont want to spend a lot of money, and I think one of these would be perfect!

I'll have to try and find one. I remember about ten years ago, a guy I worked with had a two door hatchback/fastback version he was building into an off road rally car! Lift kit, big tires, tons of huge lights on the front, winch, etc... FUN! Smile

EDIT: A link to these on American Ebay...
