Today was going to be my last visit to this paticuler Thrift store because they seemed to be leaning more toward the TV sets...
then I saw this good ol reguler Sanyo with great black to silver contrast and a row of standard LEDs.

Now, can someone tell me the proper solvent to take black Sharpy off of a Boomer?

do you think that the boxes are like in TOY STORY - just waiting for a good home and scared that they might not be loved and just end up in that lonely hell of land fill Eek Big Grin

So deoderant spray removes marker ink ??

Good old isopropyl alcohol usually does the trick on permanent marker. Test on an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't remove the finish.

That's a nice classic looking box. I would have grabbed that one also. Nod Yes I would really enjoy cleaning that one up! Big Grin

old.school.scott - 2009-06-12 11:24

I did enjoy cleaning it up.
thanks for the tips on removing permanent marker. {I went with the alcohol}
I gave it the ol' good-enough-for-the-streets, clean-up job seeing that the previous owner carved his social security number into the cassette door. and his name and address on the bottom. {your secret's safe with me, who ever you are...}
I remember this box as being the standard among the kids in my school who couldn't afford a big ol' Lasonic. This one sharp dressed dude in my junior year, had a new high- end box every month which he brought to school to show off. some with TV, some with turntables. We would all gather around him in homeroom class and marvel at these, as our eyes would pop out of our heads.
I think his big brother sold pot or was a pimp or something.
I wish I could get into a time machine and give this box to the younger version of me.{Present School Scott} I would have been glad to get it, instead of the tiny litte chincy Realistic box I was totting.
Cheers OSS
