since i got that offer early this week i thought i'd buy another box for my collection after a long period of no purchases.

well, this came out:

Sharp 5P-37G.

So here are some impressions:

When i unpacked it i thought:
"God, that sucker is a tank!"

the box is very thick and heavy!

Connected it, and guess what: nothing working yet, only static.

i opened the box and it got a complete contact-cleaner-load and a rough cleaning.

I just tested it again and everything works Smile

sound is very good.not very bassy but "sharp" highs and a very good overall-sound.Very loud too!

I just tested the TV and it works too.I was surprised that i even got a programm as this is nearly impossible these days via analoge antenna.
I think i'll mod it for a Video-In to connect a DVD-Player,PC or similar.
808funk, an old member, did that to his philips-tv-box and left the instructions for "How to".
It's worth a try Smile

A good eye may notice that the plastic-cover at the door is gone..I'll have a look if i can find something to put in there.

Overall im very satisfied with my new box as it sure is one cool looking box imo.

still do have one problem tough.I'll ask about in the tech-area.

That is one nice TV box.
I like the protective bars on the sides and bottom.
Looks to be really well built.
Congrats on the new baby!

Smilevery cool looking,me likee! but i wonder, not a concern for kid,but if we had this box in the us,would this be another tv box casuality of the feb 2009 digital tv coversion. On that thought, does the digital upgrade affect the audio portion as well as the video or could it still be possible to listen to the tv stations? I had directv, and a big dish satt system but the boardhere in my complex voted out dishes so now i have cable. A converter box isn't necessary for reg def analog tv's if u have youtr tv hooked up to cable,i really can't see spending 60-70 bucks for a converter for a tv bbx,i have a few,and have thought of selling them as i really don't listen/watch them much anyway, any one have any thoughts, just curious... Wink

thank you all!

Jared, i guess that's like it is here now.The last chance i see for this box's TV is the mentioned mod so i could use it with a old nintendo or a dvd-player..it's sad tough Frown

well i have to change my first impression of the sound Eek

that thing is friggin awesome!!

I did not fix the volume-issue until now but i just turned it on and man what a sound!!real loud, very clear and nice mids!!Just an incredible overall perfect matching sound!Bass,Mids and highs are somehow in my ears mathcing like perfect or "the way it should be"..what a joy to listen to this unit! This thing surely outperforms alot of my boxes when it comes to high volume without distortion and brilliant clear sound!

Sometimes i really wonder what miracles some additional contact-cleaner could do!

CoolGlad u fixed her,she is a beauty! I did not realize europe is allready on digital tv.? Red Face So The Tv Portion Of The Box is n't working as far as tv reception? No Audio Either? Like u said Kid,That is Sad. Frown
