someday -- planning to have one of these exciting stories --that most of you guys have --all about the rare grail for 8 bucks at the flea markets Smile

until then,
heres a story about a cool s2g/ebay deal ::

Jens posts up a "show your favorite box" thread --
boldly and with no hesitation --uncle ed pops on with some exotic 32 year old relic -- Smile

the type of box that no newer members will ever have or even see--
like only 'original' s2g members could have these -- really Big Grin

and a big nope for most of them --
here it is/was:

i looked at it --liked it alot --and the very notion that ed put it up as his ONE FAVORITE--
that was like wow Smile
---------------------

8 days later --the identical model pops up on ebay ----in florida !!!!!!!

all excited -- and real nervous that it would go BIN in moments --
i still risked the few minutes --to exchange PMs with our man of wisdom (ED)

he told me to "RELAX it wont sell --wait till it re-lists --and get it SHIPPED for $80" --

also - good guy that he often can be --he offered to go inspect it for me
(closer to him than to me)

but i figured he was full-of-it on the no sale thing Big Grin and did not want him to waste his time of this box -which will be sold for sure -- before he ever gets to see it Frown

-----------------------
well guess what --NO bids --the auction ends this past monday --so i wait 1/2 day to see the re-list price -- but nothing Confused

i email the seller yesterday with a firm offer of $80 shipped "TOPS"
few hours later --we seal the deal --

today (20 hours later)--
its here -- its 32 years old --the speakers are still tight like TIGHT, it is 100% functional--
its sounds very solid and strong --with some good bass -- its got 2 nice meters and a great dial light--

the bottom lines of this story are:

1. get this model Smile
2. give more respect to ed Big Grin

My friend how is this possible?!

What, does Florida have their own ebay now? ebay.fl ??? Laugh Out Loud

I would have bought this out from under you in a second! AND I cover all the new postings on ebay every day... twice!

Congrats!!! I like it!

Can you tell us more?

Florida Sucks! Boomer Sooner!!!! Laugh Out Loud

Seriously Ira, nice grab! Those are the best ones. Probably would've ended up at a flea if the seller didn't think they could get anything out of it. Big Grin

redbenjoe - 2008-12-10 17:18

jeff -- you HAD TO have seen it !!
it was listed correctly in the right categories --
for all of TEN DAYS

so all the 'more' i can tell you --
is that s2g is COOL !! Cool Big Grin

because -- obviously -- non members -may have never had this chance to know this was a good box --

there was NO other logical excuse for this good seller to get no bids --he has a 3,500 // 100% pos feeback ---and the listing prose and pictures were honest and clear --

jlf - 2008-12-10 17:38

The Stars alligned for you on this one Bro! Big Grin

Cause I totally would have bought that box!

redbenjoe - 2008-12-10 17:44

Well slap me in the butt and call me Santa, sometimes things just work out. I am non-plussed, that it works better than mine. This is a 1976 machine, super early genre, built like a German Panzer and one of Panasonics first attempts at a portable Stereo cassette high end.... Congrats Ira

redbenjoe - 2008-12-10 19:08

thank you again , ed

btw- got a few PMs from your Betty --
she said that your were not really using your battery cover that often.

Nice tank ira. I have one. Got it off ebay germany. The seller put no packing in the box at all, just the radio inside an oversize box. Any other box would have been smashed, this, wasn`t even marked. Solid.

redbenjoe - 2008-12-11 10:54

the aiwa990 and the sanyo9994 are the same size --they WERE my tanks --prior to this one!! Smile

It has the early "Stereo" logo Cool. It's a really a vintage National. Excelent looking boombox !!!.
Rare the aluminium finish in the TOP, from Panasonic .. it tends to a JVC look ...
I guess excelent BOOMBOX for sure.
