Yes Aiwa is a very good brand and they were a heavy hitter in the boombox game back in the day.
Thanks! Big Grin

Thanks Jeff,the 660 is a great unit.
It is a sort of personal grail for me.
When I was in high school my friends broth had one and he let him bring it to school on homecoming floatbuilding day.
Everybody I mean everybody brought their boomboxes to school and you could walk through the halls cranking them and the teachers did't care. My friend brought his brother's CS660 to school and I was in love with that sucker, but I couldn' afford one back then. Wink

masterblaster84 - 2008-12-06 08:54

Very Cool Aiwa's Skippy, that's a fine family. Smile
I'm of the belief that everyone needs to at least try one Aiwa, they are very nice sounding boxes. Nod Yes

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 08:57

Thanks M.B. I Agree

jlf - 2008-12-06 08:57

Cool story! I guess that means the 660 isnt for sale then. Frown

My earliest memories of bbx was my first hear at high school, and for the first time they were banned. Along with mini skirts! So I never got to experience walking around school to a 'sound track' Smile Which would have been cool!

Back then it would have been three distinct areas... the Alabama, the Eric B & Rakim, and the Metallica sections.

yep i never ever owned anything made by aiwa strange huh? lol ,i wonder why now that i think about it .i guess i just never got the chance to.once i discovered the m90 i pretty much been in love with it more than any box i ever owned so i never really put the effort into looking at other brands till the last few years.you could always donate that 880 to the floyds first aiwa fund .lol

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 08:59

I hear you,I used to pick up everything I could find.
Now I just collect boxes that interest me. Big Grin

jvc.floyd - 2008-12-06 09:05

right on skippy ,i like to build the family of boxes as well only i collect jvc's my goal is the have the complete jvc line of boxes from the 80's every single one ,i got about 30 so far and some of them i rarely ever see as they are safely packed away .

skippy1969 - 2008-12-06 09:06

The little CS-R10 is a great little unit.

And the Pop /rock bunch.
It was a great time in my life.

skippy1969 - 2008-12-14 15:05

Hey Jeff, Ira did beat me out of 40% of my Marantz collection.
I'm thinking that a another valued member here is going to trade my 880 for something just as special.
Do you see something else you might like to trade or buy?
Before Ira beats me up again....... Tap Toes

jlf - 2008-12-14 15:57

jlf - 2008-12-14 16:00

Wait... do you two mean what I think you mean?

The Marantz collection is now in Ira's hands?

Whats going on?! A fire sale? Oh I get it... a Christmas sale! Smile

Well sure... Maybe we can then work something out on the 880!

Unless of course you DO have a GF-9696! Wink
