AIMOR STF 800 FS 2

I bought this radio today. AIMOR

It´s a strange concept. The speakers are deteachable and they can rotate by 180 degrees to the back of the radio. It needs a lot of cleaning - the inside is really dirty and the whole radio has something like brown oily dust allover, thats hard to clean. Technically I´m disappointed. The unit wheights a lot and has got some nice features like a big tuning wheel with a smaller fine tuning wheel in the middle.
FM reception is good, but the mono/stereo switch is broken. Tapedeck is making strange noise. And surprise surprise, when I opened the speakers, the tweeters are fake. Just one 11cm speaker in the middle. The backside of the unit says 20 watts, hmm. No, it´s not that loud.
Now I´ll have a lot of work with cleaning and when I´m finishid I will post some pictures. I think I will keep it just for the look.

Here are some pictures I quickly made with my vintage sony digicam - notice the soft and colorfull grain Wink

And a view inside the speakers. On top of the midtone-speaker you´ll see this beautifull black nothing.
It´s funny, because the have everything there to mount a tweeter. Maybe they have planed to make them 2-way and marketing was dropping production costs? Or maybe they had a better model with tweeters for a higher price?
I don´t know.

DrmZ.

It was absolute worth to save it.

That tuning wheel is awesome, is it flywheel-weighted?

Sorry Reli, I don´t know, what flywheel-weighted means. Can you explain? The tuning wheel has two pieces made from plastic. The big outer wheel is for tuning and the small one in the middle is for fine tuning.

Weird looking box, it looks early '70s.
