new incomers

crasse - 2008-11-12 09:56

Hi there!

I didn't post pictures of my collection since several months, but I'm still collecting those bad boys ^^
so here is the new ones :

here is a Sanyo C5, not the most derirable model ever, but a friend found it in the street in Paris and give it to me, it's fully working, and in a good state, so whatever, it's a good deal and a nice box ^^

here is one of my favourite, the triple deck National RX-F333, Brought it back from Japan

an AKAI PJ-W55, I'm found of the design, like Sci-Fi boombox, in a minty state, found on the french bay (for 9 euros °-°')

Telefunken Studio M1, I heard a lot about it before buying it, about sound quality, weight... and everything is true ! It sounds better than My 777 !! (which was my best one before), smaller but so heavy, around 13 Kg I think (fully working, good shape, just got to fix the VU meter falling inside XD ) it's close to really Hi-Fi component (not audiophile one, but really good).

and finally, here is the Philips big Boy, SoundMachine D8718, with both of the middle part (double deck and simple deck) Philips boxes are still like "plastic boomboxes" but that one sounds pretty good and got a nice shape so whatever, I took it ^^

And I got 2 new ones incoming, so I'll update when they'll be there

retro.addict - 2008-11-12 10:15

vladi123456 - 2008-11-12 21:36

Ya, the Philips boxes - I like them the best!

reli - 2008-11-12 22:02

That Akai looks really cool!
The signal meter on the Telefunken is easy to fix, just reach in from the back. The meter is held in place by another white plastic piece that contains the light. There's no screws or anything to worry about.

skippy1969 - 2008-11-13 01:25

Very nice collection Crasse!!! I had that Akai before too,it is a nice unit. Big Grin

crasse - 2008-11-13 02:21

thx all for your nice comments Big Grin
and thx Reli for details about VU meter, I'm a bit ashamed that i didn't fixed it yet, as this is the only prob with the telefunken, which is so fantastic. so Here we go ! let's open the toolbox.

gluecifer - 2008-11-13 02:48

crasse - 2008-11-22 05:31

2 new boxes, both of them found on the french bay ,french bay isn't the best to find boomboxes, but there is not a lot of people bidding on , so price keeps cool Smile (4 euros for the panasonic and 28 for the 3D one so I keep an eye on this bay )
here is pics :

Panasonic RX-FW92L

and the Hitachi 3D

Hi there !

A new device ! not a boombox, but can be related to, in fact it's a NAKAMICHI 700, one of the best cassette deck ever built (and so beautiful also ^^ ) full working and in a minty state (just one scratch near the left hand corner) here it is :

And I would to ask something : with this "tool" in my hands, I got the possibility to record some of my cd's and vinyl on cassette with keeping a very good sound quality during the transfer on band, but I would like to do it on good tape also, which kind of tape are the best for sound quality ?

daiwa - 2008-11-26 07:55

Love the Nak crasse, they are deceivingly large units... You can still find deals on tapes online. Just make sure you get hi bias.
for instance:

Hi there, I don't really know what is "Hi bias" but on this page I see that "bias" adjust is available for the 2 last 700 one, and I got the first one (unfortunatly I don't got the manual, so I can't refer to it)
what is bias exactly ?

jerryjg - 2008-11-26 11:56

moncheeto - 2008-11-26 17:14

a new one, just received it today and found on the french bay : JVC PC-W35, a PC light weight one (I hope I will find a PC-5 in the future, cause this little one sound so good, so I can't imagine how sound the PC- big one ! ) needed a few contact cleaning (cause one of the speaker was weak, but now it works perfect !

crasse - 2008-12-24 07:01

Hi ! A new one, the christmas one ! A Sharp WQ562 in a good shape (juste one missing knob Frown but the seller said that on the ebay auction, so It's ok in a way), whatever, It's a funky mini one ^^ !

ford93 - 2009-01-04 20:57

Good move... Nak decks like TDK SA tapes. Smile

isolator42 - 2009-01-06 07:25

Geez, how have I missed this topic so far.
Great collection crasse, & ever-growing it is Smile

Obviously the highlight for me is the 3D7, looking stately & handsome in this company (IMHO!), & probably giving most of your collection short shrift in the blastability department...

Like the Philips boomboxes too.
All of their early-mid 80s stuff was plasticy, but somehow still sounded good.
Did both of them come with the same speakers, or are they sharing them?

crasse - 2009-01-06 10:41

Ok thanks for your comments ! Smile

isolator42 -> both of the philips are sharing the same speakers cause I found the second middle part on ebay without speakers so this was very cheap !
