The Crown Came today

transamguy1977 - 2009-01-27 10:15

Fast shipping and as described .
It is fully functional but is in need of a thorough clean and paint to be beautiful.
If I had to compare to one in my collection it woud be very close to the Rising SRC 2015 so far as sound and build quality.
The two quirks it has are
1.the VU meters in radio mode (right meter only moves to indicate tuning signal)
2.Aux input works when you select tape mode and hit Record button.
Other than that its a keeper.
Keep your eyes open for the newest installment of a full on Crown restoration Post.

They just don't make Crowns like they used to, do they?

Congrats on finding a classic 850 in primo condition... built like a (beautiful) tank!! Great photos!

nice one, TA-

dont want to insult all us m70 groupies --
but the 850 seems to make the m70 sort of small and boring looking Smile

Thanks guys,
I almost hate to take it apart to restore it because functionally its perfect.
But it smells like an ashtray and needs a good clean and definitely a paint job.
all the chrome is filthy but will clean up like new and the grills are painted with marker, filthy speakers, etc etc etc.
It will be great when its done tho I know it.
And its a great carry around box with the strap.

I used Blue Magic Metal Polishing Cream on the top metal trim, and it's nice and shiny now.
