Meet the Prosonics

skippy1969 - 2009-02-02 17:21

Here are a couple of Prosonics I have gotten it the last weeks.
The PRQ-9960 on the left is from member Killamon. Thanks Anthony. Big Grin
My phys ed teacher in highschool had the GPX "aka".It is in excellent condition and sounds really nice.
The PRQ-9962 I got on Ebay from Partime22. It sounds excellent as well and is almost mint.
What do you think?

Beautiful classic designs!I'm interested in the difference in sound. To my ears the 9962 doesn't have very strong mids, highs. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the 9960 have single full range drivers?I believe the tweeter grills are just for show if I'm not mistaken. How do these boxes compare for highs, lows, and over all volume?

skippy1969 - 2009-02-02 18:06

Thanks Johnny!
Jovie,I had the front off the PRQ-9960 and it does have tweeters. I know some versions had none though.
I think the PRQ-9962 sounds a little better bass wise and is louder at lower volumes.
The PRQ-9960 not as loud at lower volume then when you turn it up around 7 + it can get quite loud. The highs seem better too. Wink

It seems as if I would really love your 9960!I'd be interested to know the differences between the tweeters and the cap ratings for each box.I've often considered replacing the tweeters in the 9962 with different ones. The problem is that they are an odd impedance (3.2 ohms I believe).Maybe simply installing different caps would bring out more highs from the 9962.
