118 reasons why I grabbed this 3 piece

smokinendo - 2008-11-03 07:51

OK I like to stick to a certain style of boombox when choosing representation for my collection. This keeps the # of boxes that I want down and it keeps me from buying every boombox I see. This Saturday when I got to the flea-market it seemed as if I was going home empty-handed, I had walked the whole place with the exception of one row that normally only has vendors on it during the summer months. This row is usually a total waste of time but on Saturday after walking the more congested rows a few times I decided to cut across the middle and head home (with nothing but 21 new records)

On my way back to the car I noticed that the one vendor on the empty row had a 3 piece box sitting with it's back towards me as I approached there spot. Thinking nothing of it I walked passed, as I passed I looked back and was totally thrown back !

WOW ! ! ! how much for the radio ? ahhhh $25 ?

$25 really ? I'll take it ! My son is going to freak !

Yeah the whole thing lights up... it's pretty intense, here check it out.

That won't be necessary Smile I'll take it

Well When I got it home and checked it out 6 out of the 118 lights were out Frown No biggie

I spent about an hour on Saturday night opening it up finding the problem and getting everything situated Smile Now every light works and it is INSANE to sit back and enjoy the light show provided by our new Vela Disco Lite DK-7000EM

There was a broken board on the top row of one speaker. This is the first time I used an iron in a good 15 years Smile I think I did ok

All fixed and working

jt - 2008-11-03 09:23

Cheezy, but cool at the same time!

It even has an EQ!

OK, I will admit it, I would have bought it, too! Especially for that price!

Hey, maybe you can sell it to Madonna!!! That would would make her squat even further down!

Big Grin

jaredscottfla - 2008-11-03 09:37

Smile I like it! Another in the wild find for $25
Ya can't beat that,Congrats! Cool

viennasound - 2008-11-03 09:48

It´s a very beautiful and rare box!
Lovely when you can listen and SEE the music! Big Grin
The Conion is lovely too.
When i would be the producer of the Lasonic 931i then i would spend it such lights.
This big box would look much more awesome with a few optical highlights. Roll Eyes

masterblaster84 - 2008-11-03 09:52

Wow! fantastic find, that has to be one of the coolest boxes and I'm not even a 3 piece fan. Ever since I saw Sinisters in person and in action I've wanted one. Nod Yes

smokinendo - 2008-11-03 09:55

Thanks guys Smile

Disco Endo Laugh Out Loud

Dave I thought of you as soon as I noticed what it was LOL Isn't this the same model you brought out for the get together you guys had in Nevada ? You, Adam and Mike ?

JT your right it is kinda cheezy and the sound clarity is that of a lesser quality box but the light show more then makes up for it. I had it pumpin with the Conion behind it for some back up bass and it was one of the greatest Boombox moments I've ever experienced. There are two different light sequences on the box and watching the lights dance on either setting is fascinating. If fact it so impressionable that my wife woke up from a dead sleep, saw the box lit up on the counter and said " WOW ! We need shelving, You can't put that one in the attic"

I guess I'll be doing some shelving when I get back from out Florida family vacation

Jared I couldn't believe he said $25 when I asked for the price ! I seriously had to hold back on the uncontrollable smile LOL

Thanks Ramon ! Seeing them run makes you understand immediately what all the fuss is about... Right ? and I agree, a new retro box with all these lights in it would sell like HOTCAKES !

smokinendo - 2008-11-03 10:08

Hey MB didn't see you there but you already know all about this little sucker huh Nod Yes I'm sure you and Adam felt just like me on Saturday when Sin powered it up. I seriously felt 20 years younger and had all these flashbacks from this one roller-skating rink I used to frequent that had huge colored light bulbs lining the ceiling (man I miss skating on the weekends)

sinister - 2008-11-03 10:16

yeah there very kool. kinda brings a smile to your face Big Grin

ak74 - 2008-11-03 10:19

Dave, Adam and I met up in concord last summer. Dave brought that great Discolite and a cool tune to play it, it was a great show of which a video link was posted.

Yes, but:
That´s the luck on fleamarkets.
And please remember:
We all collecting electronic scrap!! Leaving
Sounds so very bad, but in the eyes of a non-blasterfan it is so.
A few time ago for exaple, i would never have saved the little spatial stereo out of the dumpcar. No No
My parents also always says, what i do with this old trash. I should buy a new one.... Frown

But this is our luck. Razz
So we can get some of our grails for a few euros!
Enjoy it. Wink

petey.awol - 2008-11-03 12:06

Sorry , but that *ish is fresh. Good pick up. I would of grabbed that thing up myself. Light up the house.

(PS- Ever look out for the GT cranks on my resto?)

oldskool69 - 2008-11-04 03:46

Very nice catch! Now all you need is the proper "Madonna" rub to give it that "sheen"! Big Grin Laugh Out Loud

fatdog - 2008-11-04 05:59

Or send it to Ira and let one of his "girlfriends" shine it up nice and neat. Laugh Out Loud

I was thinking it was possibly used for a Christmas display either at someone's home or in a store ? All I know is it's the most fun box in my whole collection
