bryann - 2008-01-19 16:33

Here is what i have left for G.E. radio's.

fatdog - 2008-01-19 16:55

That Blockbuster's looking nice in there! Nod Yes

jvc.floyd - 2008-01-19 17:31

there all great! i like the 3 piece with the white speakers the most.

skippy1969 - 2008-01-19 17:33

Very nice! What is your Favorite Bryann? Nod Yes Wink

bryann - 2008-01-19 18:59

The bottom 2 are my favorite. The all time favorite is the second from the bottom which is the G.E. super radio. 3 way onkyo speakers with foam padding. Nice clean sound with good highs and good bass

oldskool69 - 2008-01-19 19:07

Hey Bryann! Nice stuff! As you know I'm a 3 piece fan and was glad to see you get the CP-7. (I'm currently working a side deal for mine.) But dude I can't compete. I aspire to be you in the 3 piece box sense dude! Big Grin Laugh Out Loud

jovie - 2008-01-19 21:02

I have the 3 piece that you say is your favorite (3-5268).It is an amazing box with unreal bass. It's close but not quite up to my fisher PH460 in sound and loudness. The mids and highs are very clean with alot of presence also.If you set the E.Q. the way you have done,it sounds like the blockbuster with everything set flat only it is louder.I'm interested in knowing how it compares to the performance of the 3-piece underneath of it.

Have you ever heard a G.E. 3-6000 1 piece? It's viciously loud and has loads of tight bass!I actually find myself backing off the bass pot a bit when tweaking its sound. As with the 3-5268,it's louder than the blockbuster.Sometime I need to do a direct comparison of my 3-6000 to the 3-5268.

redbenjoe - 2008-01-19 23:59

agree with jovie about the 3-6000 -- its a grail sleeper

monolithic - 2008-01-20 03:46

Great collection, bryann!

Man, I guess I shouldn't on G.E.!

I'd like to see a pic of that, if anybody has one.

bryann - 2008-01-20 05:02

The bottom radio has some volume to it but not even close on the clarity of the super radio.
I did have the 6000 till the amp chip blew. it was a very loud radio but still missing the definition of the super. It's hard to beat a speaker cabinet built properly with great 3-way speakers and ported. here is a picture of the speaker

jvc.floyd - 2008-01-20 05:29

those are some quality speakers .awesome

redbenjoe - 2008-01-20 06:25

mono --from the official bbdb -- here is the 3-6000

monolithic - 2008-01-20 06:34

Much appreciated, redbenjoe!

I don't think I've ever seen a box with a design so simple. Surely, there's more knobs and buttons on the top. Are those 8" woofers?

redbenjoe - 2008-01-20 06:44

the woofers are just over 7" -
and it is THAT clean and simple --with no knobs at the top or anyplace but the few you can see-

the sound is is big as it looks --

and when they come up on ebay -- its usually a steal at way below $100

monolithic - 2008-01-20 08:22

Under $100?!?

I'll be lookin' out for that!

monolithic - 2008-01-20 08:31

I assume that the 2nd box from the top in bryann's stack of G.E.'s is the "Blockbuster". I've been seein' those on eBay for awhile now and been curious about 'em 'cause I like the look. The G.E. name has been the only thing stoppin' me from tryin' to win one tho. I think I'll gun for one of those as well!

bryann - 2008-01-20 10:40

Don't let the G.E. name fool you. they had some pretty kick ass boxes.

redbenjoe - 2008-01-20 10:45

same for sears

monolithic - 2008-01-20 16:40

I'll be keepin' an eye on eBay for both makers and Realistic also. Wink

The 2nd box from the bottom also looks pretty impressive! Cool Looks like they didn't waste any money on the build quality - that's a beefy magnet on the woofer there!

I have one of these in much better condition for $180.00 post paid to 48 states

erniejade - 2008-02-27 12:09

The sleeper in the stack is the 2nd one from the bottom! it has onkyo speakers and it is a clean sounding unit!

- 2008-02-28 13:40

I also have two digital (radio is Digital)model's of this same Style & brand GE general electric 3-6035 if any is interested ...

moncheeto - 2008-02-28 14:33

i think that that ge 3-6000 has a brother with digital tuner, they sound very good i was amazed at the sound when i tested the radio ira has that thin size to me i thought the sound was going to be bla but not so.............

panasonic.fan - 2008-02-28 21:20

Perhaps the 6000 has better sound, I never heard one, but the 6035 is only so-so. I have two also. It distorts fairly easily and the overall sound isn't anything to write home about. They look the business, until you realize that the cone of the speaker is about 4", the rest is surround, which is a silly concept on a low powered speaker in a non-sealed enclosure.

Great looking radios, and very unique.

redbenjoe - 2008-02-29 20:04

PF - your 6035 might be beat --because mine sounds really tight and good -
i know that by design -- it shouldnt sound so good --but it DOES
