...it's a GX-250. found it in Vienna (austria), doing its daily job playing radio for some workers in a store-room, swapped it for an "easter-egg" with cd and 2-year-guarantee (...quickly ran to the next home-electronics-store...sometimes good i do practice my running...).
honestly sounds great !

almost, almost, just one of my most beloved gems, together with the black one in the drawer...

my favourite box at the time is that little Sanyo on the motorbike, got a metal-housing and astonishing good sound, as well as butterfly-antennas... found it last summer on a fleamarket for 10 bucks !

Also, does work know you're hosting this crap on their site?

Gimme the Sony or I'll pick up the phone. I'm sure they'll take a very dimm view of this kind of carry on.

peter.griffin - 2008-01-25 10:37

Thanks Auto, amazing "variety" there. I have a telefunken version of your universum "supersound".

Hey your still missing one important shot. A nice "pan" shot of your shelves on the wallSmile

sounds less bassy than it looks, anyway, as you say, throughout it's foldable speakers it's a weird piece - closed it looks like grandma's sewing-machine...

fuzzyduck - 2008-01-26 11:17

What a diverse collection, some very unusual and cool machines in there! Eek Eek Cool

erniejade - 2008-01-26 11:54

Very varied collection, thanks for sharing.

AO's bang on about that Sony - want one, want one, want one. Might've been the first CD b-box?

and about that sony, we did have a discussion before where i mentioned / asked if this is the first cd-box ever - i still think so...

also found that one on a fleamarket, sounds so horrific, look at the square-membran speaker !

i do have a 1986 catalogue from sony, where this is the flagship-box, cd-player is 100% a cd-50 (first portable one...).

hmm, to PG's request: i'll post some pics of my new shelves, right now under construction, because i do have to gain some space...
with carrying home any box i could lay my hands on (...wich makes it a nice variety...) they sort of took over (Wink) my house, i managed to collected the 125th box two weeks ago (!).
again, some of those babies i never even tried'em... some are defective and some maybe worth sweet nothing, but for me, any of'em can stay in my house as long as they want, they hopefully gave so much joy to teir previous owners, played such a variety of music from radio or tape, i think they deserve to be displayed.

and - what does my girlfriend say about'em (...ha, i did expect that question somehow...)???

she says (sorta word by word):

an fakir-nailboard with only one nail is no fun...
