Boxed Pye TR1822

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I posted any sort of update. With this one, I have a little story to tell.

Back in 2007 whilst out walking locally, I was very surprized to see a boombox, a picture of one to be exact, placed on the ground amongst rubbish that'd been dumped illegally. I promptly went to investigate, and found it was the original box for a Pye TR1822. The best thing is it has an address stamped on the side, for a shop local to me which has now closed, and the price label for £59.95. I decided I was definitely keeping this excellent piece of boombox memorabilia, shoved it under my arm and took it home with me. The quest was now on to find the boombox to go in it. For the next 5 years it sat on the top of the wardrobe collecting dust.

Then last month, I opened Boomboxery member Northerner's collection thread, and saw he had an extremely clean looking Pye boombox that looked very like the one I had the box for. I asked him what model it was, and he confirmed it was a TR1822. Northerner had acquired it for free from one of his very kind work colleagues who had owned it from new and hardly used it, and I can tell as it's pretty much like brand new. I immediately asked if I could buy it, then started the process of purchasing it from him. A couple of weeks and about 15-20 PMs later, it was finally on its way to me.

In a few days it arrived, and Northerner had packed it extremely well. Everything works perfectly, the only thing it needed was the tape speed slowing down, which I've done, and now it's running perfectly. I'm a happy man.

I must say that Northerner is a very pleasant person to deal with, many thanks for a smooth transaction.

Here's some pics of the boombox and its box.

This was a welcome sight when I got back from work!
