shock aiwa found!!!!

andyboombox - 2012-10-15 05:22

hi guys-so i got a call an hour and a half ago that kind of went like this....."eh up andy lad,you still into those old beat boxes?"yes was the reply"well ive got something here you might be interested in.....its an aiwa tpr 920".well the conversation followed on by me sadly saying how blinking skint i was an that i cant really afford a purchase right now,but id love to own the aiwa,as i have a passion for them.so to cut it short, his reply was "tell you what, you cover my diesel and you can take it".well here i am an hour and a half later, five english quid lighter but the proud owner of a fully working aiwa tpr 920

well then,it is a late seventies model so is smaller but way heavy, has louvered grilles and a really, really nice, typical aiwa warm quality sound.check out this borrowed pic of what im on about:

tpr920_490291

a lovely old thing-twin meters, dial light,no actual play button for the tape lol(labelled up as something else lol)and a little red light that flashes when the deck is in play.....all it needs is a good clean-its just had new belts fitted by the previous owner so i cant go wrong-just love it

is there much popularity for this on here as i dont hear about it very much.....i know seventies boxes arent everyones cup of char but if you can get one.....get one,it woulnt disappoint you

sorry about the writing guys, whats happened there?

lav.loo - 2012-10-15 05:31

the oversized writing was probably due to excitement Andy

that's quiet a decent looking box and for a sky diver you can't go wrong.

maybe not everyones cup of tea but if it floats your boat then that's all that matters,

there's one on ebay at the mo mate and the seller says lots of good stuff about it.

anyway great catch andy mate i'm happy for you, you never know the guy could phone with the offer of an m90 next time, congrats bro

nice score andy,

love the quality feel of the early aiwas

andyboombox - 2012-10-15 06:09

this is like carrying a brick andy, solid as a rock and sounds superbalways had a soft spot for seventies boxes,as long as the speakers are on show or at least the grilles are fancy,as they are with this
