Charity shop find 2 minutes ago!

northerner - 2012-11-26 04:23

Just got a call from a local charity shop saying they'd got a blaster in so as its just around the corner I nipped out...and I'm glad I did!

One minty looking Sanyo C7 is now in my possession for a very reasonable £14.99 .  Got it playing in the office now and sounds good, bit crackly but obviously thats easily sorted.  Tape deck doesn't work but makes all the right motor noises so will just be belts.  Will post a photo shortly.

I have no idea what the rep of this box is supposed to be as never had a Sanyo...good or bad or middling?

i have one sounds fine to me and at that price has to be a winner , the belts are a little tricky to do its a five piece to .

Cool box and good price. Don't know if it's still available but there was a fully working C7 on gumtree a week or so ago in Norwich for cheap, I was tempted. I've got the C3 and C5 and I like the look of them even though they're not one piece machines.

Good score!

There's only one old fella in the YMCA who bothers to check the 'wanted' list they have but luckily its the YMCA thats the only one that gets/sells such things so I'm in with the right shop   I think that it helps that I do all the shops every week on my lunch break and everyone knows everyone round here so they remember my weird obsession!

that sounds the way to go mate, and let them remember your weird obsession lol. as long as you get the prize nothing else matters. once again great score

Got it home and opened it up. I've never seen such a clean box, looks like it was made yesterday!

Cleaned the switches, didn't attempt the belts as it looks way too scary!

Been pumping a bit of M71's soundcloud electro mega mix thro it and it blooming rocks!

Absolutely the most mint box I've had, just like new...chuffed!

stereo.mad - 2012-11-26 12:12

retro - 2012-11-26 15:38

Congrats, that's a really sweet looking box probably the best score I've seen for a while.

ao - 2012-11-27 01:28

I love Sanyo's use of walkman-sized controls on their boomboxes.

deech - 2012-11-27 04:40

A very clean box Northener !

It looks beautiful.

Sanyo was a top brand and the

diversity of its boxes was unique.

retrolad - 2012-11-27 12:38

excellent find ive also got my number given to certain charity shops just awaiting a good boomer like yours to turn up

northerner - 2012-11-27 12:49

Cheers retro. Listening to it now side by side with my M70 and its pretty damned respectable. Chuffed to have it in my slowly expanding collection
