I agree 100% spending is always a  main factor  concern or should be .

its very easy to get addicted to so many....yes this hobby is addicting....when i first started i was going nuts myself so many different kinds of boxes....but i later came to my senses and thought i should stick to only certain types that matter most to me....

yes it can be expensive....but there are other hobbies way more expensive as well....trust me ive had so many kinds....from toys to the motorsport world....hobbies are endless....nothing wrong of having a passion or an obsession....its just when it gets out of control....

Just like most people here, I really didn't know what box to get when I first ventured into the vintage boombox world.  There are so many boxes and brand names and of course condition of the boxes out there. But knowing myself, I always have to have the best and that usually comes with a big price tag. So I ended up picking up the Clairtone which I got into big trouble with my wife about$$! Then I found the JVC PC-55JW and grabbed that one. After that I saw a really nice Fisher PH-492 box that I had to have because I actually remember a kid friend having this Fisher when we use to break dance. I think between spending all that money and getting yelled at by the wifey I wonder if it was all worth it? Hell yeah!!! I'm 42, the 80's was my era and I would go back if I could because that's when things were cool, like break dancing and boomboxes!! It was such a pleasure to hear a Gap Band cassette tape go through a vintage box and It always take me back!

So maybe I'll buy more,  but for now I'll keep the craving down a bit. Maybe I'll sell one or two and buy three or four more. I think my next one will have a turn table on it, that's crazy cool!!

Stunning boxes beatboy. Is that the original backlight in your 55?

Better hide the bankbook from your misses ...at least until she accepts your boombox "sickness"

Lmao, Yeah she's a sneaky one but you gotta love em! And she knows I have a "thing" going on with the boomboxes. I believe the LED backlight on the 55 is original. the guy who I bought it from was the original owner and bought this box from a Crazy Eddie store. I was like holyshit! And he still had the instruction booklet, pamplets, and the box that packaged the speakers. Check out the pics.

This JVC55 is silver and comes with the soft touch. Not only can you break this thing down and make it look like a bookshelf system,  but you can also program this unit to go on and record something off the radio at anytime! Scan Search function is also cool. The only thing is that it the guy who I bought it from couldn't find the handle. so I looked one up and ordered it. This thing is pretty heavy too!
