mint m90

stereo.mad - 2013-04-14 13:53

ok today i got yet another m90

it was on ebay and was just around the corner from me so i did the usual massage of buy it now offer but he said that he wanted to let it run due to the interest he was getting on it,i then asked if i could view it and he contacted me a couple of days later and invited me over to have a look

i got there and it was sitting on his kitchen table,it looked so clean and better than  the pictures on ebay, the alloy tuner trim was dented but that was the only mark on it and did't bother me as i had a replacement one,it just needed a good clean

i asked him were he got it and he did't want to tell me at first but after a cup of tea and a chat he opened up and told me.....he got it from cash converters in our local town for£40.....man i wanted to die! it's the same cash converters i always go in and not find anything at all!

anyway i picked it up this morning and spent all day minting it up....totally stripped it down, detailed clean, repainted the faded speakers and replaced the alloy trim

there is not a mark or scratch to be seen, not even wear marks on the corners and the chrome is spotless

mitchelljames - 2013-04-14 14:15

£40 from a cash convertors, thats f@@king unbelievable.

It looks so clean mate, like brand new.

samovar - 2013-04-14 14:15

omg now your collection can boast a m360 if i count it right   anyway this one is a real beauty... well done Lee, despite the fact that, if you go on like this, you might be indicted of inside trading...

smeats1976 - 2013-04-14 14:17

Very Nice indeed! Just a thought but if cash converters sold it for £40 then the poor cash strapped sod that brought it in really got his pants pulled down on the price!

40 pound is disgraceful - yet fair at the same time

it is only a second hand radio

bison - 2013-04-14 15:40

///is there any practical advantage in painting the speakers or is it strickly cosmetic

redbenjoe - 2013-04-14 17:57

just cosmetic --

make sure you use a fabric spray --

as thats thin coat paint-

still -- best if you like it as is -

and leave it alone

--- (-for stereomads or any m90 )

soundboy - 2013-04-14 17:59

thanks

aestereo - 2013-04-14 21:54

Extreme security threat - your arcade will be invaded anytime.

Keeping 4 minty M90s to self is a crime.

deech - 2013-04-15 02:00

I just like it !

I like it also for the reason that you appreciate

boomboxes and for being a great collector STEREOM90mad !

stereo.mad - 2013-04-15 02:10

Thanks deech

retrodos - 2013-04-15 17:08

Feel bad for the person that more likely had his house, or apartment robbed. As it more likely stolen!! No way no one going to take the time to restore it and A. Not know the value and B. Then sell it for less then 40 pounds, around 10 pounds if that.

stereo.mad - 2013-04-16 00:22

Retrodos
Don't worry it's not stolen, it's mint now as its me that restored it!
It was very well looked after and the case, chrome etc was unmarked but it needed a detailed clean, repainted speakers and grills and new alloy trim on tuner glass

Let us try to steal it from Lee now. He has too many M90s that he will not notice, even if one or two are stolen

stereo.mad - 2013-04-16 02:43

Hmmm if you can get though my many teenage boy proof locks I got on my boombox room door then by all means have a go lol

lol...you're not quite as trusting as me...my boxes are in the second living room where my son and his mates often hang out...but then I've not got four M90s!!

Left them in the house the other day and they accidentally set fire to the microwave and one of them passed out from smoke inhalation

think i might get a lock or two

stereo.mad - 2013-04-16 04:00

Fook si
That's what worries me.... I don't trust our boys!
