A boombox in a time machine

walkman.archive - 2013-06-06 08:54

Hi there,

I have recently met Marty McFly and asked him to go back to the past and take me something special with his time machine.

And today arrived! It's a Toshiba Bombeat X-01, directly from the 80's in a time-capsule!

It's a brand new, never used and opened for the first time now.

I'm not sure what year was it released, but I guess early 80's. With a wireless control and such a full set of features it's pretty impressive!

It even has a demo tape and some advertising carpets...

I don't know what to do with this because I'm not sure to keep it or to sell it. I still have to decide. But undoubtely it's an impressive museum piece!

Hope you enjoy

Yeah, it's indeed a great box. Seems unbeliavable. I'll test it this weekend thoroughly and see if it needs belts, etc...

@Lav loo: No, it's not from eBay Germany.

Oh wow I had one of these when I was in the Marines , In japan.

Where can I get one of these, willing to pay top dollar.

retro.addict - 2014-08-12 13:21

That's VERY nice!  If you power it up, just make sure you turn the volume slider down first, it would be a shame to cause a blown woofer or tweeter on its first use. I couldn't help but notice it was near the top.

If it was me, I would keep as it is, and take it out and power it up every now and again. I wouldn't have the heart to abuse it with every day use, and permanently remove it from its packaging after all this time. Leave it be.

Sell it...to me.....what do you want for it....This machine brings back so many memories...i would love to have it and surprise my wife......

retr0basshead - 2014-08-12 13:31

That is fantastic ,incredible   Where on earth do you guys keep finding these boxed beauty's ?????

retro.addict - 2014-08-12 13:44

cabc949, if Walkman Archive plans on selling it, he might well be wanting to keep it in the circle of well-known, long-time members here - so it doesn't disappear and go off the radar. If I was him, I'd be keeping it.

cabc949 - 2014-08-12 14:05

Good point...i guarantee it would not disappear....but understood.....I'll
keep looking and when i find one I'll be sure to let you guys and gals
know.....

OK guys just bought a sharp gf-666. I recently wanted the Toshiba S933 - 934

But can't find one in a price range I can afford (still looking) so I am
starting my collection

with this sharp...unfortunately I don't think it came with a power cord.
Would

anyone know the type of cord or model number I need for it? I dont know

because it didn't arrive yet.

Thanks

northerner - 2014-08-15 23:43

Every Sharp I've ever seen uses a standard figure of 8 lead

Thanks Northener
