what does £20 buy you?

andyboombox - 2013-06-12 02:25

see these representative pics to find out!!!!

hitachi___perdisco_trk-8080h_3_big

dsc00024cuyes guys, got them both yesterdayat least one photo is borrowed from a member here so hope you dont mind

i knew about the 8080 as the stall holder at huddersfield market had told me he had got it for me,so my initial plan was to get over there on the bus(what a drag)and pick that up,for a tenner-but when i got there he had the pioneer playing music on his stall, and imagine my amazement when he said i could take that for a tenner toosuffice to say i didnt hesitate, bundled them up and made the epic journey home.....

the hitachi needed a deep clean (done now) and still needs belts, but the pioneer is ready to roll so two great boxes for very little coin.....proof personified that boxes are syill out there, and for cheap prices

anyone else got any in the wild finds of late?

michiel - 2013-06-12 02:37

Nice find! Good price! I like Hitachi 8080, has a nice vintage look!

raiken - 2013-06-12 02:51

lucky you,, i hope i could also find good box for a few cash

andyboombox - 2013-06-12 03:02

these are out there, just keep looking hard raiken and you will get them, just proves that ebay isnt winning the battle after all-some tips....go to your local carboots/charity shops/flea markets/second hand shops etc and get yourself known to the sellers.....if you see any of them selling older electricals then put the word in that your after old boomboxes and leave them your number should they get any then give you a ringthats what i do,dont be afraid to ask, youll be amazed how many ive scored doing that!

and thanks for your kind comment Michiel, ive been told the one close to the 8080 to really go for is the 8180,but im content with this one, just have to re belt it now, which is no easy task on these

deliverance - 2013-06-12 03:11

good finds for a tenner each result

andyboombox - 2013-06-12 03:30

For the money you paid the 8080 is a great box! I almost had one this week for a couple of times the price you paid, until the seller and her brother started bidding on her own radio after I made the appointment with her. She stopt at 90 euros, stupid people lol

The 8180 definetly has the looks with the uv meters!

northerner - 2013-06-12 05:25

Bit of a bargain there Andy mate

I only got one box (the Sharp GF6363) for my car boot £20 so two for the same price is more like it...well done

nickdoofah - 2013-06-12 05:33

those hitachi's were so well made & still popping up after all these years

andyboombox - 2013-06-12 06:00

You are a resident of boombox heaven!

sitman - 2013-06-12 09:37

Nice boxes! I've been going to thrifts, fleas and everything in between, only thing I came up with are a couple minis. I guess in time I will find something if I keep looking. So you took the bus with a box in each hand? Lol

Same experience SITMAN. I normally find only eggs and boxes in the worst condition. Never a sweet machine to be found. That Pioneer is a keeper!

andyboombox - 2013-06-13 02:58

yeah bro,put one in my holdall and the other in a black bin liner and carried it in the other hand....i was sweating my balls off by the time i got home but it was well worth itGUYS IM IN DIRE NEED OF A MAIN FLYWHEEL BELT FOR THE 8080....PLEASE HELP!!!!!.and brutus442 and sitman, keep on eating away at the thrifts, second hand shops, flea markets and the like and get asking the sellers what they might have at home.....dont be afraid to ask,it will prove itself worth it in the end

northerner - 2013-06-13 03:05

One in a holdall and one in a bin bag?!...that shows zero style Andy...you shoulda filled up the D's and had one on each shoulder

deech - 2013-06-13 03:07

I do like the Pioneer !

Those are great finds Andy

especially for that sum of money !!

And you are so right about the second hand shops,

if you keep asking the sellers what they have

then something will come back to you for sure !

wimp

I've been buttering up any possible finders...found a salvage place in a farm barn last week and amongst the tons of stuff he had a few radios and a massive wurlitzer...so we had a good chat and I showed him the sort of thing I wanted and he said he'd keep an eye out and ring me

andyboombox - 2013-06-13 06:34

be patient, young simonsomething will crop up from him im sure, and for all the crap ones he might turn up there will be the odd beauty too-ive always just took everything that my contacts have offered me,just to keep them sweet, cos its better not tio say that you only want this one or that,as it puts them off

"young" lol ...I've got at least 10 years on you matey...but if you're talking childish and immature then I accept

I was tempted by the wurlitzer as he let me have a go and it sounded surprisingly good...but at £1100 I decided against it lol

I might try to get to the local car boot early this week since the wife is broken and won't slow me down

sitman - 2013-06-13 09:19

About to head to the thrifts, the staff there are getting to know me lol. I'll ask them to keep an eye out and give me a call.

andyboombox - 2013-06-14 02:06

good luck si and sitman, lets hope you get something positive guys

lav.loo - 2013-06-15 15:05
