My new Boom Room!

retro.addict - 2013-07-26 16:46

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the lack of recent posts by myself, it's been a very busy year so far, but thankfully it's starting to settle down now.

I've just moved house, and after an awful lot of work - including juggling employment and building furniture etc - I finally have my very own Boom Room to house my hoard!

Take a look, and I hope you like the room and my boxes!

Thanks very much for looking, my dream eventually came true after 7 years of collecting!

A huge thanks to everyone on here who has helped me with things boombox related over the years.

Looks like a walk in Boom closet lol. Walk in and pick out your box for the day like clothes. I like it!

This is what stereo stores in the 80's looked like!

driptip - 2013-07-26 18:36

soundboy - 2013-07-26 18:59

i like it. my mind was thinking of my future boom room, as it does every so often... by the way the sharp gf 777? it looks like the one 's on ebay from china. my question is are the boomboxes in china ok to buy? i ask because i would like one and my brother teaches in china. my fear is getting a bad boombox,eg. like the gut's are nothing like a gf 777 just a shell fix up to play ! thank for the pic's

Oh great! I'm too young to remember stereo stores back then, I was born in 1986.

The shelves are deep, I picked the style I preferred. They're from Ikea, and they're quite sturdy. Thanks!

You were born in one of the best decades RA!

I, sadly, was born MUCH before 1986...which makes me old..but not too old to BOOM!

What gets me is, how do you guys manage to convince you're partners/wives that it's a good idea to have a room dedicated to just displaying boomboxes?  I'd be lucky to get a shelf in the shed.

northerner - 2013-07-27 11:53

Ha ha! Just need a very tolerant wife

stereo.mad - 2013-07-27 12:32

You need to grow some balls ao! Lol

therealsmith - 2013-07-27 12:49

My balls on in a jar on the mantle

I stash most of mine in storage and only keep out a few. This has the added bonus of her not noticing new boxes because I'm constantly shuffling some in and out of storage

She probably does the same thing to me........... but with shoes

sm4rt - 2013-07-27 15:18

Wow !!

That is the ideal scenario, for boombox storage. One comment though. The usual thing. Where are the toshiba`s?

I only have one Toshiba now, the RT-S782, it's hiding in the second pic, on the second shelf down, left side. It's in-between the Tatung TSC 5101 and the Saisho P929.

litfan - 2013-07-28 11:37

Ah. You`ll have to point it out, as, i have never heard of tatung.

Here's my Tatung TSC 5101, there's not many of them about, not compared with many other boombox models. It's quite a nice one-piece box with twin antennas, separate bass and treble controls, LED meter and handy line-in and line-out RCA sockets on the front.

Here's my Tatung and Toshiba RT-S782 together on the shelf (circled).

I hope that helps.

Plus a link to Tatung's official website here.

Here's a few new pics of the Tatung for your possible interest.
