Hunter Boombox

Wanted to share one of my latest boombox with you guys I was looking for a replacement for my beater M70 and found this one. It sounds pretty good. Good bass, highs and it goes loud! Sounds a lot like the M9994 only goes louder! Its a good temporary replacement for the 70.

Its an heavy machine, about 9 kilos without batteries. It had some small problems; the fm radio reception was very bad (needed adjustment), the needle of the tuner scale was lose (hot glue fixed it), it needed new belts and the internal power switch in the cassette deck was complete burned down. If you come across this box (there are many aka's) and it doesn't power up, most likely the power switch and/or the one in the cassette is burned out. Found out that these switches switch a lot of power. Such that it gives a big spark every time it switches on.

What I don't like about this box is the German writing on it.... Volume is called "Lautstarke",  Trebble is "Hohen"... But can live whit that... But I hope an English version pops up some time Can really recommend it!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Looks great michiel! Any chance of some close up shots?

smeats1976 - 2013-11-18 09:34

thats a nice looking box Michiel At 9kg I'll bet its well built as well. Never heard of the brand though, what are the AKAs?

michiel - 2013-11-18 09:58

Would love to make a movie of the LEDs, but it has to be very loud to see some action. I don't want problems with my neighbors now  But found a movie on YouTube.

There are many aka's. Here on the forum they are talking about them  Isn't this a great forum

In the inside it is branded Conic.

From which part of the box would you like close ups Seb?

Those LED's don't disappoint! I was also suprised from the S2GO link that they have a CANDLE aka (more common for us across the pond). It's a great box Michiel! I'll keep my eye out for this one

Owwww, looks Im getting some stiff competition finding an English version of this box!

The box really stand out in the rest of my collection. It's so nice silver It's about the size of the 9494 and you guys will recognize it by a strange button next to the power button. It says something like "batt saver" on the English version. On this German version the button is called "Limiter" All it does is adjusting the gain and limit of the volume slider to decent proportions, so it's not so extremely loud lol

Found out it also has a good cassette deck. Auto stop works with rewind and ffwd. And it actually makes decent recordings, especially when played back on the same box. Hardly any difference between FM and tape! It uses 45 watts of electrical power, that's one watt more than the M70. It would partly explain why it sounds so powerfull

Just finished building in a charger plug, as this is going to be my beater outdoor box for a while

Now that's a nice looking box! Love the chrome on it. Great to hear it sounds really good too, one huge bonus. Congrats, looks minty!

michiel - 2013-11-19 02:12

Hey Retro Addict, thanks! Cool to see you already here for more than 5 years! Well, wouldn't call the box mint, but its a good looker. Paid 40 euros for it, which is quit high for a local find with defects, but I have no regret at all getting it.

Seb, here a pic of the German controls. And one of the label on the box. Had these made for my archive. Will try to make better ones later...
