360 miles of pain!!

lav.loo - 2010-05-10 10:54

hi all just thought id give you all something to read.
sometime last june when i was living in skegness i got a buy now deal off ebay, i think it was something like 7 or 8 decent blasters buy now £50.
the guy lived in reading which is 180 miles from skeg, i arranged to do a pick up on the friday, it was tuesday i got the deal.
anyway after 3 anxious days i woke up on the friday morning with bad pain in the side of my abdomen. i did'nt want to miss this deal and was going to make the journey no matter what, my girlfriend drove me there with the 3 kids as i don,t drive Frown anyway aswell as the kids playing up all the way my pain was worsening but nothing was gonna stop me.
after a 3 hour drive we arrived and i was greeted by a guy called paul who then shown us up to he,s flat.
when i walked in i was stunned by the amount of boxes he had Eek they was in every room he had, even he,s bath was piled high with them Nod Yes anyway to cut a long story short i got 10 boxes not 7 or 8 like he said No No he threw me more in, for my pain i think Laugh Out Loud
i got a sony cfs88 a hitachi 8190 and good few more decent boxes for £50 Smile there was 1 box i wanted but he would,nt part with, a crown 950.
after leaving we headed home as it was getting late, my pain was worse than before so when we finally got back i decided to go to a&e for a check.
after diagnosis i was took straight to hospital for my appendix out, damn i thought i won,t be able to play with my new boxes for a few days.
anyway after 3 days in hospital i was discharged and was able to go home, all i thought about in hospital was my new boxes (and my kids).
as anyone else on here had a pick up that,s a bit out of the ordinary like mine?? please share Wink

"Paul" in a flat in Reading, with boomers floor-to-ceiling? Thats got to be s2g member pacwestuk, right?
Without wanting to post any personal details in the public domain, it was near Junction 11 of the M4, yeh? Smile

I've had a few trips to Reading to fill-out the 3D collection, etc. almost always leaving with more than I went for.
Last time I picked up a GF777 (that needs work) & he threw in a near-perfect TRK8200 to sweeten the (already good) deal.
The guy is a boomer addict, for sure...

Hey, hope you're recovering OK from the op.
A 360 mile round trip is surely above & beyond the call of boombox duty, even for ten boomers. Nicely done!

billy.the.binman - 2010-05-11 06:00

yeah got that c100 back in 2004! £250 all in off ebay canada, that was also incredibly lucky, similar bidding circumstances for that one too!

minty - 2010-05-11 06:14

Appendix. Ouch. Very painful. So i don't collect boomboxes, but those things look beautiful. Real sci-fi look to them.
