Okay try this one

dougie - 2008-10-16 17:09

You guys are blowing my mind with your knowledge of this stuff. I really don't have any boomboxes of my own anymore. sad to say I never owned more than about three. I really like them though, and it has been really cool checking out some of the ones you guys have.
so okay, tell me if anyone remembers this one and if you have a pic that would be even better.
I owned this one back in about '83, made by G.E. (all of the 2 or 3 I had were G.E. ...I'm a big fan of 'em)it was black and dark gray, a thick box, a good three inches. it had a cassette player on the left, with a power indicator/sound meter?(not sure how else to describe it)on the right. You could push the silver button next to it to make the lights blink or light them all at once. It slanted up to the right like a set of stairs. it had detatchable speakers, it was expandable in that it had pre outs for phono, cd, or additional cassette player.Oh yeah and am/fm stereo tuner.
i have only seen one other like it in my life.
I would love to get my hands on another one!!!
Peace Nod Yes

Okay, I remembered another feature that I forgot to mention about the ge boombox...It had magnets on the sides of the speakers. When you slipped them into place with the head unit, it formed the boombox and allowed you to use them without connecting the wires to the back of the unit.
There were spring-loaded buttons on top of the speakers that you would release to remove the speakers from the unit and hook up the wires to expand the speakers out like a home unit.
Cool huh? Cool Hey DM4U, Thanks for the pic and searching for me... the pic is very similar in size and the speakers are almost dead on, except for the spring loaded release on top of each speaker. Thanks guys...I'm still searchin'!

best of luck!
