Mini Boom Box Information Wanted

lasonic.trc920 - 2009-06-18 16:12

I am on the look out for a nice Mini Boombox, but before I buy some piece of cr@p I wanted to ask some questions to the Mini Pro's out there.

I'd like to describe what I'm looking for and what I like and don't like and I'd like your thoughts.

First of all, I don't like detachable speakers!

I don’t like any thing that is round. I prefer the 80’s square stuff, Chrome is a big plus!

If I had my choice I'd prefer full logic cassette mechanisms over just "Punch Buttons".

I'd like to have graphic EQ (5 band or more)

NO VOLUME SLIDERS! Knobs Only!

Dual cassette would be nice, but not mandatory.

SW 1&2 would be nice as well, but not mandatory.

It must have Aux In for an MP3 player.

And most important sound quality and MAX VOLUME are Very Important to me! Are there any High Watt Mini's out there?

I know that’s asking allot from a small box, but I have to think it's out there somewhere.

If you have any model suggestions that would be great, pictures would be better!

Thanks

You nailed it on the head!

So what is the model number of this box?

I swear that thing is sharing some parts of the Lasonic 920. The cassette door looks the same as do the volume/treble/bass nobs and the selector switch. I dig the chrome!

A few questions...
Is it loud?
16w is allot!
What size speakers?
Do those tweeters work?
What should this cost? ( you can PM me with that info )

Thanks

I guess I can't expect too much from a mini, but one could hope. I've just kind of found, it's hard to toss a monster box in the truck when my wife and I are heading out for the weekend. I think one of these could fill the void! 15 Euro is cheap! I'm going to start looking for one of these hear in the states.

I just got a Fisher PH 422. Not a bad box. Has most everything your looking for. 25w too. Aux for MP3 also. Check mine out in the boombox collections.

It's late old school, but I would recommend something like the Sony CFS-350/450, or one of the Hitachi 3D models. They are all about the same size, relatively "half height" compared to most of the regular to large 1 piece boxes, and you'll get far more out of them than just about any mini could hope to provide.

The JVC PC-100 mini is a notable exception, but violates your "no sliders" rule. Great box if you can pick one up in good shape.
