Found it.

I have been looking for my bombeat 40. I found it this morning, In-between a trk8600, and, 2 880`s. She`s a battered and bruised old lady, but, it sounds superb.

It was hiding here.

Is this one like the black BomBeat 40 Litfan?

isolator42 - 2008-11-06 05:49

Battered & bruised? That camera's being kind, it looks fine... Smile

Such a classic looker that one, glad you found it, Lit.
Damn, look at that storage - what a fine example to others...

litfan - 2008-11-06 05:50

Yeah, i was a bit worried, which is unusual for me. I really love this old timer.

gluecifer - 2008-11-06 05:51

Glad you found her Litfan! That's the first time I'd seen one of those. It's quite garish for a Toshiba, just the way I like them. Need to add that model to 'the list' as well.

She looks in pretty good condition from the photo. What needs work on her?

Rock On.

litfan - 2008-11-06 05:53

It`s almost identical to the black one, except, for the badges above the speakers.

ford93 - 2008-11-06 05:55

A rare bird indeed you're lucky to own one. Nod Yes

geoffhartwell - 2008-11-06 05:58

litfan - 2008-11-06 06:01

Thanks everyone. I still remember, trying to figure out, how to get the front cover off. After removing all the srews it stil wouldn`t budge. after pondering for ages, i realized, 2 of the allen bolts around the speaker surrounds, are actually real. One to each speaker.

Stunning bbx!

Crazy about the front bolts to take it apart!

litfan - 2008-11-07 09:05

I remember talking to the seller, after i won it on ebay uk (£26). He said, he found it on a boot sale in preston (uk), years ago. It had been lying around his house for years. His kids had been kicking it about, fiddling with it, etc. When i received it, the dirt was up to the "3 way speaker" badges level.

jt - 2008-11-07 09:44

Wow, for how dirty you are describing the box was... you did an outstanding clean up!

Congrats on owning that beauty! And especially for getting it at that price!

litfan - 2008-11-07 09:48

Cheers JT. Is the 9696, in the avatar yours?.

jt - 2008-11-07 10:08

Yes! Thanks for asking.

It is a relatively recent acquisition from ePay. I just completed major tape deck repair to get it up to 100%. The motor was missing and the capstan bushing was complete goop and made a mess. I got the replacement motor from a member here, cleaned out the goo, and replaced the capstan bushing by using a small piece of screening spline. It works perfectly now and I'm even listening to it as I type...
