My local Thrift stores and Flea Markets haven't coughed up any of those but I'm looking. Frown

And welcome aboard CREK 173!

NOPE! Big Grin I'm sorry dude these babies will stay with me.

I only hooked up Fatdog because when I got my M-90 he gave me some tips on restoring the M-90. Nelsongf also played a big roll on it and I wanted to reward him but at the time he went awol for awhile. Speaking of Nelsongf where he is I have not seen him post any threads for quite some time.

These tapes can fetch upwards of $50 per if they are unused! I bought some used ones a while back, but they are arguably the best tapes ever made along with Maxell's Vertex, and Sony's Super Metal Masters...Very heavy build construction!

bredgeo - 2008-06-12 21:35

TWO MA-Rs in Goodwill...???

Lucky man!

ghettoblaster68 - 2008-06-12 23:37

Hey Ernesto! You have very different tapes, I have a different mode;l of the Sony's with a metal case, and also my MA-XG is part ceramic and plastic...I don't have a Vertex yet though!

Ghetto68, that TDK MA-XG cassette looks nice. Smile I love unopened '80s cassettes! Big Grin Nice Hitachi TRK-8290 poking into that picture too! Cool

ffracer - 2008-06-15 23:32

Another tape to try (if you can find one!) is the Japan market National Panasonic Angrom DU tape. metal evaporated like mini -DV camcorder tapes today, but it will blow a TDK MA away, which are great tapes.

Problem was, they were $10 each in 1985. Way too expensive. Also sold with Technics branding.

I have never seen a audio cassette with headroom these National tapes have.
