thrift store finds for the day

ahardb0dy - 2008-06-09 13:21

Hello all, I hit 2 thrift stores today looking for that elusive Aiwa CA-70 that someone wants so badly, no luck sorry. But I did get one of those reel to reel cassette tapes for 54 cents!! The plastic case even has a sticker that says "beastie Boys", LOL

Sounds like a good day to me! Cool

yeah, orlando area thrift stores really suck.

I rarely find anything good in the Orlando area thrift stores and when I do, they want and arm and leg for it. When I lived in NJ, I found much better stuff and cheaper too.

my buddy found an AKAI reel to reel tape deck at the one on Orange Avenue for $45, he couldn't get it to play so I took it home and figured out he had the tape run wrong but it didn't record on the right side. I found a guy up near me that repairs old tv's and stereo's and $145 later it's as good as new. I recorded from a cd onto it and you can't really hear a difference. But before I found this forum the only electronics I used to look for were old 70's pioneer receivers so who knows what I may have walked by.

There are some really great thrifties in Florida. In fact,I believe I've found one of the sources from which the legendary Skillphil gets some of his stuff.Unfortunately though with gas prices it's really too far away for me to frequent.FUNK ON,SKIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Jovie what part in florida would that thrift store be?

I don't know if you have checked the chat area there might be a meeting with a bunch of S2G members in Leesburg.

J's in Lakeland. Skil goes to the Sunday Flea at the old drive-in on E. Hillsborough for at least some of his. Javier from the museum early days found excellent stuff there.....

ie: the minty Technics I bought from him and Panny Fanny bought from me.

I'll have to take a drive out to Lakeland and check it out. Has anyone been to the bog flea market in Daytona Beach? There is also a big flea market in Kissimmee I want to check out. Flea World, by me has nothing when it comes to vintage electonics.

Also, I heard Webster may be pretty good.

so is Skil a stealth member here?I had heard that he occasionally drops in at times to check things out. However,to read posts I believe you have to be a member.
