Found in a local dump, needs a belt....

Works good, but belt slips causing the sound to be uneven...

Kiki likes it too lol

Great find and the price is right!  A little plastic polish and that will look like new.  It's a shame people are still throwing this stuff out.

It's in great shape! I love Sanyo, hope you can fix it soon.

Good'n radio!

radio.raheem - 2011-04-11 08:54

Nice find there....I fail to understand the mentality of people...throwing stuff out like this and yet they pay hundreds for something like an ipod...im sorry i just dont understand..

brutus442 - 2011-04-11 09:15

If Kiki approves...it's gotta be good!

I agree %100 with Radioi Raheem. i don't understand the "disposable generation" Not too long ago careers were made on component repair, now we toss out and buy new?

Great find Jody!

Aways makes me feel great when I see someone rescue a boombox from the dump. Sad to think how many get thrown away that we cant save. Nice find!!

radio.raheem - 2011-04-13 22:38

I would try cleaning the heads capstan bar thouroughly and rubber wheel with cotton buds and meths..this may fix your problem...try this before changing the belt....good luck with that...

jody - 2011-04-14 06:43

already did that....

jody - 2011-04-14 09:57

well the belt is shot, tried a temp elastic band, worked but still whiny and uneven..

but the FW worked lol

davebush - 2011-04-14 10:29

an elastic band...classic I remember those days

jody - 2011-04-15 02:48

any ideas guys?

also, the head is worn a bit...

thought it was just dirt, but i can see a few specks of the chrome worn through...

any ideas where i could get parts or what could cause the unevenness in playback? seems to turn normally though...

radio.raheem - 2011-04-15 09:59

Without seeing the box in question i can't realy say....I thought you said the belt was shot...an elastic band is deffinetly not going to help....also it could be a bent capstan bar.. who knows...regarding the head all i can sugest is to find a similar size spec head from another boombox....Im not sure but I don't think you can buy new heads any more...like everything else related to this hobby.. were dealing with anteques...you could put a wanted ad in boombox wanted section..and just cross your fingers...
