best place in the world for picking up a box ?

bendycat - 2011-10-17 15:43

While looking on ebay you get to see what is in your country and or you can go world wide

so it got me thinking : who/ what country has the best boxes ?

Uk has some nice ones but a lot of crap as well that fills up ebay US has some big grails turn up but also go for big money + shipping can kill a deal as it is way high Germany has a good selection of big boxes and also ship to the uk at a normal price Japan seems to have some good one's but as they collect big grails they are always high in price

so you get my drift - there seem to be come countries that have better boxes and offer better deals on price and shipping

now discus on what you think is the best country for selling boxes

I know there will be different view cos of where you live - so take into account where you are from and what type of box you like and then the price of shipping cost - so you can answer in two parts if wanted

Ebay Germany can be ok bendy, but alot of the time,i message the sellers and ask if they take paypal, and ask if they will ship to uk,they either say no or dont reply, some say they will ship to uk but they want paying by bank transfere,There is No Way i would pay that way,but its normal for them..what puzzles me,i've said this before,us in uk and usa,its compulsery for us to have paypal, but germany dont have to sign up for paypal..strange..

- 2011-10-17 15:58

My place for finding them, as I am STILL finding them? and the USA for selling them, as what have here everybody want's almost  of what is still being found here

We Sincerely wish we could get rid of all of the clutter that has cometh withith allith and have a nomal? life once again...

..... have bought from Germany before using payal.....

ghettoman - 2011-10-17 16:07

Me too,i have bought from there,i bought a box from blasterpunk,he has paypal,as do other members of here and the other site, and a few do on ebay germany, but 90% of sellers refuse to accept it,a while ago i looked and it even said at the bottom of their auctions in big capital letters NO PAYPAL,like they hate, infact despise it,it would be good if we could have paypal as an option rather than compulsery, the fees they charge is a joke, thats probebly why german sellers wont accept it,because of the ridiculous fees, they might refuse out of principle..

bendycat - 2011-10-17 16:17

so does that put them down the list for have some nice and collectable boxes ? when looking they seem to have some cool boxes

JC - there could be some very good sales and trade between the US and UK if it was not for such high shipping cost and then customs - and there ws me thinking that the UK and USA were such good buddies in worldly matters

2.9 percent isn't all that much ( Paypal ) to send/recieve $$$

Ebay charges about 11 percent Total on whatever you sell - that's is the grinder of trying to avoid, or have to use to sell with ...

Which is why - we like youtube to adverstise with for free with  and " only use paypay as a last resort, method of payment

Well we could smuggle BOOMbox's into each other's country...

Still am thinking of how to say what it is that I am carrying onboard a airliner when the rare if any time's I may travel in the future my BLASTERghetto...

i got off track here somehow...

ghettoman - 2011-10-17 16:28

Bendy if german ebay sellers were made to accept paypal, that would be an ok place to buy from, but aslong as its not for sharp/Jvc and those type of boxes ect..they sell for a fortune mate, they love sharp,Jvc and the nicer brands..

James i fully agree with you man, paypal fees are nothing compaired to ebay final value fee,now that is a joke !!! i think in uk its 15% but not sure..if you sell something for £100,they charge insertion fee, then £15 final value fee, then if you accept paypal, thats probebly another £3.50..and ebay own paypal so they are making a fortune !!!

bendycat - 2011-10-17 16:44

there is a way to transfer money for free in paypal as long as you trust the seller - a good way to buy and sell on here with trusted members

ghettoman - 2011-10-17 16:53

best place to buy boxes from is billy the binmans house,he should sell us his conion,or his 767,or his crowns..he should share his wealth, should'nt you Andy ??

wish I had the other cpu online ... show you some more pictures...

chris69 - 2011-10-18 01:31

2.9 perecent may not seem like much but when you add it to the ebay fee's it's usually around 15% and that's alot! The big problem with Paypal are buyers who file false Paypal Claims. Seen it happen far too many times.

The Clairtone 7980 is definately more common in Canada than the Conion C100F is to the USA or any other country for that matter. The JVC M90 shows up alot in Canada also and quite a number of others.

chris69 - 2011-10-18 08:16

Toronto is the boombox capital of Canada

i think germany is the best place, but like beanie man says issues with paypal etc mean its not ideal for a uk buyer.

funny thing is my first memory of a boombox in full flow out in the open was in cologne in 1983 with some guys breakdancing in the town centre,i was on a school trip.less than 12 months later i was doing the same in manchester town centre

Cheers paul. It`s all relative now. never mind. I bet, if you looked now, you`d find some gems. Alway`s wanted the victor rc-x999, panasonic rx-dt705? Ben , got me that cfs-f40, and, jefferson, got me the victor rc-x777.

litfan - 2011-10-18 14:36

Made a mistake. It`s the panasonic rx-dt701.

ghettoman - 2011-10-18 14:36

Tooo Expensive james or "you bet" i would..

example of cost for a faulty box,and 99% of them are..

Box cost example = 10,000+yen = around £100

Shipping from seller to middleman   around £20

repacking          =           around £15

middleman fees      =          around £30-£50

shipping from japan to uk          around £150 -£170

import duty          =       around £100

using a couple of the higher values,it comes to nearly £500 for a faulty box..not good !

Plus would i get my money back if sold any on ? probebly not..thats the only reason why i'm not doing it,if it was a cheap thing to do i'de be at it every week..

Richard,we only live once,go get them man !!
